I posted on my Twitter that the Contender Series bridges the gap between UFC fans and MMA fans, and I stand by that statement. It allows the specific, brand driven UFC fans to open up to other organizations.
Great Professional performances on week 3 and 4. Guys that got contracts were: Louis Cosce, Cheyanne Buys, Orion Cosce, Josh Parisian, Jamie Pickett, Rafael Alves, Jeffrey Molina and Collin Huckbody

More fights in this Global Pandemic, more fights in Sioux Falls for the LFA 88. Jaleel Willis was able to edge Vinicius de Jesus on the Judges’ scorecards to Capture the LFA Welterweight title
Same, stagnant.🚩 Willis wins by Unanimous decision
It was a pretty stagnant fight. Willis ate a lot of low kicks, and was on the back foot all fight. Neither guy really wanted to clinch. de Jesus was coming forward, but not really offering much with the hands. This fight was basically two, average-to below average boxers, boxing. de Jesus has very strange fights, (case in point, his fight with Jerimiah Wells) I don’t know if guys just dont want to put hands on him, or if he just has a reputation for doing awesome things on the ground, but guys usually want to stay away from him. de Jesus has a great chin though… So there’s that. There is a case to make that de Jesus won this fight, but I didn’t really care, because neither guy really put their stamp on this fight. Pretty standard linear fight.read more
OK, so the all TV MMA game rolls on. Stipe Miocic took on Daniel Cormier in “The Trilogy” for the UFC heavyweight title, and Stipe was able to come away with the unanimous victory of five rounds. It was a pretty entertaining show. A few heats were broken, but we roll on
Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier
The body shot was still there, the head kick was still there. DC is always trying to convice people that he ‘s fixed things, when its all the same, hes old. Miocic put in a workman like performance to get this victory. IMO Cormier would not have been the greatest Heavyweight in the UFC had he won. Randy Couture is way ahead of him, Stipe is in that argument now, because he tied Randy Couture for the most title fight wins in UFC history. So the fight that I think makes the most sense is Miocic vs Lewis. Stipe already has a win over Ngannou, and Lewis has a win over Ngannou. I like fresh fights in MMA, there are way too many good fighters to be having so many of theses 2s & 3sread more
Pretty good striking talent on display on this first week of The Contender Series. And good all around talent on the second week. No crowds at the Apex? We dont need no stinking crowds. We’ve been doing it this way since the inception of the show. Medic and Jacoby shined with their striking, and Adrian Yanez gave us one of the Contender Series KOs that we all love
Anyway, here we go again. Here are grades of the talent on the show. These grades are only based on their Contender Series performance, and not their performance before, in other organizations.read more
The Trilogy! Its happening, and Daniel Cormier is waaaaay past his retirement date. I guess that retirement date wasn’t really a hard number after all. I predicted that this fight would not happen, BECAUSE of Cormier’s retirement, but here we are… And let me tell you this… I dont even believe Cormier will retire after THIS fight. I think the UFC will have to push him out. It makes no sense for Stipe to fight a guy that will want to call it quits after the fight. Hopefully, the UFC are paying this Firefighter. This fight is essentially a grudge match and not a title fight anymore, with retirement looming over the whole thingread more
The LFA stayed in Sioux Falls for (what I learned) was phase I. They’ll move on the Phase II a few weeks from now. LFA 87 was the 4tth week of an LFA title-fight series. Bryce Logan won the LFA Lightweight championship beating Jacob Rosales by unanimous decision. Logan used footwork and feints to outscore his opponent, while keeping away from Rosales’ wild shots.
So, the All-Television era of MMA continues. People are still trying to recover from the Pandemic, and the disease is still pretty rampant in different pockets of the US. Sioux Falls, South Dakota is the LFA’s fight Island. So far, there have been three weeks of fights there, and the shows have been great. LFA 86 was a quick and entertaining one.

So the LFA stayed in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for LFA 85, and it was a fantastic show, I think it was the best show of the year. Cards like this need a live audience, but all in good time I guess. The pandemic can’t last forever, or can it? … Whatever… Great fights at LFA 85!!
I think Masvidal won the striking exchanges, but I dont think he had the gas tank nor the wrestling strength to get out of the bad positions that he was in. I got this wrong.
Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway
I picked Volkanovski, but I think Holloway won this fight. Max got better. He has better Muay Thai, and he was working with range a little better. He looked a little better physically IMO. Its so weird, because you can’t do a rematch with Volk having 2 wins, but a rematch is warranted. Anyway I think Max will move up.read more
So, the LFA is back. The show took a very long break, and the pandemic really crushed some of the fighters. The pandemic is doing a number on all contractors actually. Its not good, but, we are slowly trying to get back to where we were. The LFA was in Sioux Falls South Dakota for LFA 84
