We’ve had a rough year for MMA in 2020. There are so many fighters that missed out on their development this year and I’m pretty sure a lot of fighters had to quit MMA, because of the pandemic, but hopefully a lot of real fighters still have that spark and continue to train and get better. Some people say that you should never have a plan B. – 😅 I’m an advocate for plan Bs, and plan Cs and plan Qs, because you never know what life’s gonna throw at you, There is a vaccine now, and I’ve heard that its effective, so hopefully in 2021 we can all put this 2020 madness behind us. I dont know how the vaccine will work, but I’m hopeful. Just hopeful. read more

I feel like off the bat, I need to apologize, these are –bar none, the worst picks I’ve ever done, as some of you may know, I usually pick, all the UFC cards, the full show, I post the Fight Night picks on Twitter. I scored this fight for Figueiredo, I scored it exactly like Derek Clearly. I’m not too upset with the decision though, because it was close. What I am upset with is that Figgy lost a point after one low-blow. ONE, one. Is Herzog going to take a point for every low blow now? I feel like I’ve done these picks before. I guess the UFC is coming fast a furious with the PPV cards. Figgy will be making a quick turnaround and fight Moreno -who is also making a quick turnaround. I like this card, much better than the previous PPV card. The UFC is obviously anticipating some COVID-19 cancellations, maybe this is the reason why this is a 14 fight show

So LFA 93 Went down in Park City, Kansas. A good show. Not as good as I thought it was going to be though. I thought Sam Hughes was going to fight Cynthia Arceo, and for some reason I thought I’d get to see Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady. For the most part the show delivered. The LFA went with the live scoring option from the Kansas commission for the 2nd time… Live scoring… its…. OK. Its only useful if they think that the judges aren’t scoring the fights at the correct times. -If that is the case, I think the judges should submit their round by round results to a representative of the promotion, they dont have to show the scores to the corners. When they show the scores to the corners, It takes away some of the drama of the fight, its also gives some fighters an incentive to play it safe. Eh… that’s just my 2 cents. So the LFA stayed in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for LFA 85, and it was a fantastic show, I think it was the best show of the year. Cards like this need a live audience, but all in good time I guess. The pandemic can’t last forever, or can it? … Whatever… Great fights at LFA 85!!

So, I’ve seen a lot of fights in 2019. Ofcourse I havent seen everyone, but, I’ll go with the stuff I know. So here are my top 5 rankings, in weight divisions in Texas. Ofcourse, guys in larger organizations are excluded

Women

  • Audrey Wolfe

Women have a tough time in the fight game in general. They may need to travel to get fights, They may need to move up and down in weight classes, and sometimes life just gets in the way. A lot of good female fighters in Texas never really move on from the Amateur scene. Id really like to put Sam Hughes on this list. She’s fought in Texas a couple of times, but she really is from the PNW. She’d be number 1 or 2 on this list. Demopoulos fights out of California, but she’s had several fights in Texas read more

So XKO hit us with “XKO: Summer bash”. Also known as XKO 46. and I really like the XKO promotion, maybe because its my local promotion, maybe because I like the little themes that they come up with, and maybe because I like the format. – They sprinkle Muay Thai events in the fightcard to off-set some of the more grapple-heavy bouts.

Anyway, So the show wasn’t around the Arlington area this time. This time it was at “Gas Monkey Live” in Dallas and I am not a fan of this place holding MMA events. It was weird, with a huge bar dividing the cheap seats and you have to order your food from the kitchen, at the bar.
