Josh Fremd vs Gregory Rodrigues – Middleweight

Round 1

Fremd starts out with Jabs. Rodrigues is patient and rocks Fremd. Rodrigues settles down and KOs Fremd with a 1-2. 🚩Rodrigues wins by KO

At range Fremd looked a little out of his element. when the fight slows down, Fremd looks a little out of ideas. When there is chaos, that’s when Fremd shines. Rodrigues didnt look that special to me, but he was composed, he is the LFA middleweight champ, and he will be in the UFC

Mark Climaco vs Rodney Kealohi – Flyweight

Round 1

Climaco gets close and wrestles Kealohi

Round 2

Climaco throws good hands and wrestles read more

What happened at UFC 262?

This was such a big weekend for COMBAT IN TEXAS. very busy, super busy. There was XKO 50, There was Fury Fc 46, and there was UFC 262. So much excitement all at one time. Its kinda bad timing TBH. Jeeze… Let people digest one show at a time…They threw everything at us in one weekend.

Anyway, at UFC 262 Charles Oliveira knocked out Michael Chandler in the 2nd round of the main event to win the vacant UFC Lightweight title

My picks are here

Charles Oliveira vs Michael Chandler

I thought I was right on track with my prediction, until the second round. Its like Chandler got a little cocky and thought that Oliveira was more rocked than he was. Wild ending to a wild fight. I got this wrong. I’d actually like to see Oliveira vs Dariush. I think Dariush deserves it. I’m also not against seeing Oliveira vs Gaethje read more

UFC 262 Picks

UFC 262 Picks

The UFC is in Houston. Texas is open. We had the Biggest Boxing fight in USA history with Canelo vs Whathisname. Whatever…This is MMA…The closest thing to unarmed combat that we’re gonna get, and there’s no playing any games with pillows on your hands. Interesting card here. My prediction came true… I said that the Lightweight title would be magically up for grabs if Chandler and/or McGregor won. Well…Chandler won, and here we are. Hopefully none of these fights fall out read more

LFA, Shawnee, OK, Great fights

Main event

Joshua Silveira vs Rafael Viana – Light Heavyweight

Round 1

Silveira gets a big double leg, takes the back, and gets the rear naked choke.🚩 Silveira wins by submission

I already know that Silveira is good at grappling! I’ve seen it! I want to see Silveira’s hands. The LFA should find a wrestler to fight Silveira. -That’s the ticket

Luis Gavinho vs Terrence McKinney – Lightweight

Round 1

McKinney walks Gavinho down, throws some feints with this hands, and throws a big left Highkick. It drops Gavinho, McKinney falls after the kick, but had the wherewithal to finish Gavinho with strikes. 🚩McKinney wins by TKO read more

LFA, doing what they do. I had to pick between watching LFA 105 and the PFL. I chose the organization that uses all the MMA rules. LFA – Full MMA

Main Event

Svetlana Gotsyk vs Piera Rodriguez – Strawweight

Round 1

Gotsyk with a lot of movement, and lands some big shots

Round 2

Gotsyk lands some big counters but Rodriguez comes back and lands some big shots

Round 3

Close Round

Round 4

Back and fourth

Round 5

Gotsyk shoots for a takedown and Rodriguez is able to reverse it and get to back mount. Rodriguez rains down strikes. 🚩Rodriguez wins by TKO

Usually LFA champs can go straight to the UFC. I dont think this is the case for these ladies. Rodriguez has better strikes, but her footwork is atrocious. Gotsyk has good footwork, but she looks like a pad-hitter. I’m just not impressed. I think they rushed into crowning a new LFA strawweight champ. Maybe Gotsyk was booked, and they had to find someone to fight her on short notice. Anyway, I think Loveth Young awaits read more

Fury FC 45 Results

I remember when I used to want to watch Fury FC and I couldn’t, lol I remember watching Fury FC online, and I was watching fights that were streamed by Mike “The Truth” Jackson. Now Fury is on FightPass, The camera work is a little slow, but the production is a lot better and the talent is still very rich

Main Event

Nico Echeverry vs Le’Ville Simpson – Lightweight

Round 1

Very technical round with Simpson using some good footwork

Round 2

Technical, until Simpson scores a highkick and drops Echeverry, and then follows up with some ground and pound. 🚩Simpson wins by TKO read more

What happened at UFC 261?

What happened at UFC 261?

Can you believe we did this without crowds? Is it too soon though? Should it have been 50% capacity, or how about a lower ticket price for a vaccinated spectators? – That would’ve been a great idea IMO. But…Capitalism…Lets go. The Main card was great. Lots of finishes and tons of talking points

Here are the picks I made

Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal

Usman is a very very smart fighter, and Masvidal didnt respect that. Usman set up this KO by going for takedowns early. Masvidal had has hands low, waiting for the shot, and wasn’t quick enough to dodge the overhand right, and it seemed like Usman put his whole body into that punch. That punch kind of cooled off everything Masvidal was riding on. -The man went weirdly political for a while, after not wanting to go that route, and he kinda had to eat his words after he said that Usman doesnt punch hard. These things happen to you when you talk a lot. I want to see Usman vs Thompson next. I have no idea where Masvidal goes after this. getting KOed after getting cocky is a hell of a thing… I got this pick wrong read more

I hate being able to chose between which high level promotion I want to watch. LFA and Bellator, get your stuff together. Great fights. I picked the LFA, 1. Because I like to see young talent & 2. I cover LFA. I only cover LFA because they started in Texas BTW. And it looks like I’ll be covering A LOT more Fury FC now that they’re on FightPass and their production has gotten a lot better. Gilbert Melendez was great on the mic, at this show

Main Event

Brandon Phillips vs Aaron McKenzie – Lightweight

Round 1

Phillips landing and looking faster. But McKenzie grows as the round goes on, McKenzie started the round looking very bad IMO read more

UFC 261 Picks

So the UFC rolls on, fans will be back, and we get another PPV card that we really dont need IMO, Its just fulfilling some kind of contractual deal that the UFC has. I think it’s a matter of time before the UFC stops doing this, because Bellator is getting good, and if Bellator stays on this track, I think they’ll make people wonder why they’re buying UFC PPVs at all. I think the PPV maincard fights are good, everything else is either low level/unknown – That’s what the UFC usually does on PPVs, so they can give the big names “more money” and pay the undercard fighters peanuts. OK… these are tough to pick… I’m guessing the UFC put all the Chinese fighters that were supposed to be on the Chinese version of DWCS on this card. read more

LFA 103 took place in Shawnee, OK. The Promotion still has a limited crowd there. I actually expect the LFA to make the move down to Texas fairly soon. Texas is opened up, and the counties are the ones that blocking a lot of crowd gartherin’s. As the vaccination numbers go up, I expect the state to open up more. In the main even of LFA 103 Spike Carlyle beat Batsumberel Dagvadorj by submission, in an exciting contest.

Main Event

Spike Carlyle vs Batsumberel Dagvadorj – Lightweight

Round 1

Big Right Hook by Spike Carlyle hits Dagvadorj flush and the Mongolian just eats it. Dagvadorj continues to eat shots and come forward, and the Mongolian really uses his chin as a defensive weapon to get on the inside. Dagvadorj closes the distance and begins to land some shots of his own. Carlyle gets the takedown works to the back and locks in the RNC.🚩 Carlyle wins by submission read more
