So the LFA Visited the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota as they tend to do. I really want The LFA to be its own thing, Why? Because of the fights. The fights are so good, the match making is good, the talent spotting is good. What I mean by it being its own thing is, the LFA not depending on using the UFC to gain legitimacy. In my opinion, it doesn’t need the UFC. Anyway, we carry on.
Main Event
Alex Polizzi vs Jamal Pogues Light Heavyweight
Round 1
Pogues is looking for one shot to finish this fight. Polizzi is better in scrambles, beats up Pogue’s body and gets a huge slam
Round 2
Polizzi is better, and again, Pogues is looking for one big punch
Round 3
Polizzi grapples better
Round 4
Polizzi eats two shots and the Pogues gets disheartened, Polizzi then wraps up a heel hook to get the win.🚩 Polizzi wins by submission
Pogues looked green in the Contender Series, and he looks green here. He throws no combos, he has a below average grappling game, and he just doesn’t hit hard. Polizzi has no head movement, but is very scrappy on the ground. I’m sure that the LFA can find better LHW material. As of right now Polizzi is the champ.
Jake Childers vs Nate Richardson – Featherweight
Round 1
Childers clinches, gets a takedown and slams Richardson, and puts him out. 🚩 Childers wins by KO
The slam pretty much ended everything, and we didnt get to see a lot from either guy. It was a very nice slam though, and Childers has put together a great record. As of right now he’s 8-0 and I gotta think that he’s looking to get to the next level. He may get a Contender Series call, or he may have to step his competition up just a little.
Pauline Macias vs Dana Grau – Strawweight
Round 1
Stagnant stuff by both. Lots of nerves. circling and tentative
Round 2
Gray takes over a little bit with leg kicks
Round 3
Gray grows in confidence. 🚩 Macias wins by Split decision.
I thought Grau won this fight. It was a bad fight to watch, both ladies looked amateur, but I think that Grau won. I was a little pumped for Macias, learning about her Judo background and such, but I was left disappointed. I’ve said more about this fight than it deserves
Korey Kuppe vs JP St. Louis – Welterweight
Round 1
Kuppe gets taken down and then eats some elbows, he rocks St. Louis win a huge up-kick, which knocks him back into his guard.
Round 2
St. Louis takes Kuppe down, he then gets beaten up from the bottom and caught in a triangle and elbowed. They ref stops it. 🚩 Kuppe wins by TKO
St. Louis looks to have a good wrestling game, but he needs to be more brutal from the top. Kuppe’s guard game looks especially vicious, he’s really scrambly off his back. At a certain point, you have to let your opponent pay for being grounded, this is a good lesson for St. Louis.
Nate Smith vs Sean Stebbins – Flyweight
Round 1
Grapplefest. Smith gets out of some situations on the ground
Round 2
Smith Throws Stebbins and pounds him from back control. 🚩 Smith wins by TKO
Smith looks good. He looked as if he was down for a wrestling scrap, and just took it to his opponent. Stebbins is not a bad fighter, but he was depending on grappling a little too much.
Thomas Peterson vs Brian Peterson – Heavyweight
Round 1
Thomas just grabs a single leg on Brian and pounds on him from back control. 🚩 Thomas Peterson wins by TKO
Hot knife through butter here. Thomas has a brutal ground game, when he gets it going
Nate Smith’s Grappling game is unbroken
