Fury FC 41

Fury FC 41

OK, so I went to my very first Fury FC event. So I can say I’ve been to the big three Texas MMA promotions. Fury, XKO, and LFA. – If you want to count LFA. LFA is kinda like a national promotion right now. Anyway it was a cool experience, a very intimate venue on a rainy night in Duncanville, Texas

So I jumped in my truck, I didn’t even bother to take my DSLR to the venue. I just couldn’t bother with the hassle of trying to get it in. I navigated through all the Christmas traffic and went into the Fieldhouse parking lot, paid the $10 for parking and made my way to the venue – the Duncanville Fieldhouse – A high school basketball gym. The high school kids has a little canteen set up, and they were slinging hot-dogs left and right and even running out of food. I think they were competing with the food vendors inside the actual gym. Anyway, I bought my tickets for $50 and went inside. It was a little on the expensive side if you ask me. Come on guys, give me a code or something, so I can re-watch the fights on Fite.TV, if you’re gonna be charging that type of money. read more

What happened at UFC 245

What happened at UFC 245

OK, UFC 245 ended, and it was big. It was a great fight-card. Fantastic prelims and just good action

Check my picks out

Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington

This was a stand up war, and both these guys are warriors. I knew that Covington had great cardio and a good engine, but I didn’t know that he was such a warrior. He told his corner that his jaw was broken, and they let him down. They should’ve pulled the plug right then. The corner man also said that Usman was “breaking” LMAO. That dude said the champ was “breaking” 10 minutes in. He didn’t say that he had a broken hand or a broken foot, he was saying that Kamaru Usman’s will was breaking. He was basically saying that Usman didn’t want to fight anymore. Why do cornermen lie to their fighters? Is this just fight corner filler? Usman got the win and I picked this fight right read more

UFC 245 Picks

UFC 245 Picks

Ok, I’m gland that we’re back to UFC cards looking like UFC cards. UFC 245 looks like how a big fight card supposed to look. Maybe its because its the last UFC XXX card of the year

Kamaru UsmanvsColby Covington

Both of these guys have fantastic high level wrestling, but I’m still blown away by Usman beating Tyron Woodley, the way he did. I’m less impressed with Covington’s win over Robbie Lawler, but it counts for something. I think Usman is incredibly smart, and I think he’s wise to what Covington wants to do. This fight is about who has the better cardio read more

Combate Americas: CombateTexas

Combate Americas: CombateTexas

Combate 48: Dia de los Muertos, Combate Texas, Combate Dallas, Combate Garland. They dont really know what to call this one. I wanted to go see these fights, but it just was too cold, and they didn’t really have anyone on the card that moved me. Combate Americas always caters to a Spanish speaking audience, maybe even a little too much… but we all know the language of face punching, and that’s why I like it

Main Event

Gilbert Urbina vs Angelo Trevino – 175

Round 1

Hard kicks by Trevino, Urbina takes his back and becomes a back-pack of pain. They eventually go to the ground and Urbina beats up Trevino. read more

LFA 79 Round by Round Results

LFA 79 Round by Round Results

So, I’ve been thinking if I should do the round by round results for the LFA since, its so widely available now. I’m not sure if I should just do commentary on fights, or just keep on doing what I’m doing. I missed a couple of LFA events. I’ll try to get back to them. But this LFA was LFA 79 Royval vs Williams. Royval has had a couple guys pull out of fights, he’s had the TV deal cancellation, he’s had injuries and various amounts of bad luck that was stopping him from getting to the title, but all that stopped today. read more

Fury FC 39 Round by Round results

Fury FC 39 Round by Round results

OK, So fury FC 39 kicked off in Houston at the Bayou Event Center. The promotion has been putting on a lot of fights, they’ve been traveling, and they’ve been attracting a lot of talent. They will be in the DFW area soon, and I hope to go to the show, but there is sooooo much MMA in DFW at the moment. Anyway. Great fights. The “amateurs” on this card do work.

Main Event

Leomana Martinez vs David Rivera – Bantamweight

Round 1

Rivera shoots in and Martinez jumps guillotine. Martinez eventually kicks his opponent off and gets up. Martinez drops Rivera twice and puts an unholy beatdown on him until the round ends. The fight really could’ve been stopped here. read more

What happened at UFC 244?

What happened at UFC 244?

OK, so the atmosphere was fire. The name recognition was there, and the fights were good. I think it was a successful UFC. Tough guys were 0 for 4 on this card, and boy, were my picks wrong 🙁 worst of the year

Here are my picks

Jorge Masvidal vs Nate Diaz

Tough guy no. 4 The fight started out like I thought it would, it didn’t end like I thought it would, but, I think all that is academical. Masvidal was going to beat Nate Diaz to a bloody pulp, and if they fight in Vegas, for a rematch, gamebred would paint the canvas red with Nate’s blood. I think Masvidal wants the fight, because its a very easy paycheck for him. That is all. This was my unbroken pick, and I missed the round call, but eh… it wasn’t bad. read more

Fury 38: Round by Round results

Fury 38: Round by Round results

Fury 38 was at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio. The Fury Promotion is heavily active in South Texas. There were some fun fights. CJ Vergara was fighting for an interim 125 belt, he didn’t make weight, so its kinda like the scrapped the whole belt situation, and said, “Who ever wins will fight the champ” – Good stuff

Main Event

CJ Vergara vs Shawn Solis – Flyweight. Vergara missed weight

Round 1

Vergara is slow with not a lot of movement. Solis is bouncing around well. Vergara throws some punches and lands some hard knees from the clinch. read more

UFC 244 Picks

UFC 244 Picks

Stacked card here. Now this is a real UFC XXX event. UFC 244 brings it

Jorge MasvidalvsNate Diaz

So the BMF title is not a real belt, but it’s even more important than a real belt. The winner of it can call his shot. The winner can move up or down in any weight-class and challenge who ever he wants. There is enormous clout here. Other fighters will want to fight the BMF champion and take his title from him. It is real, but then again, not real. I think the pick is cut and dry here. Jorge Masvidal will dominate Nate Diaz, I foresee a 2nd round finish, I really want to say 1st round, but Diaz is known for his toughness read more

XKO 47 Results

XKO 47 Results

XKO was at Texas Live! with 10 fights. The show was called XKO 47: Friday night fight night. I think Texas live is a definite upgrade to the Gas Monkey venue. The Arlington complex is a Sports play ground. Its just restaurants, drinks, and giant TVs, and they try to mix the outdoor with the indoor as best as they can. XKO is such a strong promotion. They dont use a lot of gimmicks, and they just put on good fights. They are not afraid of having an all female prelim card and a female main-card all in one night, bold, I love it read more
