Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal

I think Masvidal won the striking exchanges, but I dont think he had the gas tank nor the wrestling strength to get out of the bad positions that he was in. I got this wrong.

Alexander Volkanovski vs Max Holloway

I picked Volkanovski, but I think Holloway won this fight. Max got better. He has better Muay Thai, and he was working with range a little better. He looked a little better physically IMO. Its so weird, because you can’t do a rematch with Volk having 2 wins, but a rematch is warranted. Anyway I think Max will move up. read more

Abu Dhabi, UFC 251, the place where all fighters want to fight at some point in their careers. Exotic? Yes. Rich? Yes. This is just a place that every fighter can look back and say, “I fought there”. OK so fight Island? Ehh…. We’ve already been there, we’ve already been to fight Island, its the same Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, but it was just less special then. Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington

This was a stand up war, and both these guys are warriors. I knew that Covington had great cardio and a good engine, but I didn’t know that he was such a warrior. He told his corner that his jaw was broken, and they let him down. They should’ve pulled the plug right then. The corner man also said that Usman was “breaking” LMAO. That dude said the champ was “breaking” 10 minutes in. He didn’t say that he had a broken hand or a broken foot, he was saying that Kamaru Usman’s will was breaking. He was basically saying that Usman didn’t want to fight anymore. Why do cornermen lie to their fighters? Is this just fight corner filler? Usman got the win and I picked this fight right read more

I got this one right. I think the fight went how I thought it would. Max is just a weight class bigger than Edgar, and his power just means more.

Cris Cyborg vs Felicia Spencer

Cyborg did not get the finish in round 2, Cyborg did not even break Felicia Spencer. The girl was still coming forward and getting after it. I was right that she wouldnt be able to take Cyborg down like she did to Anderson, but I didnt know that she could eat so many shots. Teach her some feints, headmovement, and some MMA boxing and I think she could be a champ in 3 years. read more

I think Max Holloway will take this one. I just don’t think that Edgar has got the juice that he once had. Volkanovski beats them both though. Get Volkanovski in the title picture, and then we’ll see Max lose and move up a weight class.

I hope Spencer got paid for this one, because she’s not going to be able to take down Cyborg like she took down Megan Anderson. I think that Cyborg gets the finish in the 2nd round.

Niko Price is a fascinating character. If you’re not a real MMA fighter, I don’t think you beat him. He tries to exploit his opponents’ weaknesses. Geoff Neal has great striking, if you play that stand up game with him, he’s gonna make you pay, I see Price taking this to the ground and checking out Neal’s ground game. So I didnt think that UFC 236 would be that good and I got pleasantly surprised. I made some bad calls. But its all good, some of the calls that I made were absolutely sublime.

Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway

I thought that Max would be big enough to handle Poirier. I thought he would actually have some power at this weight class. Turns out that it takes a little bit of time to develop that power. He also fought a very dangerous game and he ate a lot of shots in this fight. I know that he wants to stay in this weight class, so he’s stuck in a weird limbo right now. read more

Holloway has the best footwork in the division. He is going to put the pressure on Poirier and get the TKO victory. I see him taking this in the championship rounds. I expect a lot of “sprawl and brawl” from Holloway

Kelvin Gastelum vs. Israel Adesanya

Stylebender should win this one. It should be a boring affair for the casuals. It will go all five rounds. Adesanya has the reach, Gastelum has the chin.
