What happened at UFC 235?

UFC 235 was fantastic. The fights were entertaining, and my picks held up for the most part

Jon Jones vs. Anthony Smith

Jon Jones dominated Smith. – This site is called unbroken MMA because there comes a time, when someone has you in the dirt, when you have no path to victory, when you know that winning is not an option, but you don’t give up. I like those moments in fighting, and I cherish them. Anthony Smith was BROKEN in this fight, not beaten, BROKEN. He got broken right after Jones threw a flying knee and busted his face up. He was willing to go out at anytime after that. Smith would not go the route of taking the DQ victory after being broken in that fight- to his credit. Jones then rewarded him by letting him lose via Unanimous decision. I picked Jones to finish Smith in the 2nd round, I don’t think I made a bad pick, because this was pure dominance

Kamaru Usman vs Tyron Woodley

Woodley got out-wrestled and beat. This was a huge welterweight matchup, and Usman shined bright. I picked Woodley because he’s such a smart fighter, but Usman game planned for him perfectly. Those punches to the body – Veteran move. I knew the Nigerian Nightmare had a chance, but I got this one wrong.

Robbie Lawler vs. Ben Askren

Lawler is such a gentleman in MMA, that if he said that he was conscious, I’d believe him, but, he looked to go unconscious, at least for a little bit, while in that bulldog choke. I don’t see Askren beating Usman, and by the looks of it, he could have a hard time with Covington, if those two ever fight. I picked Askren to win, but this turned out like nothing I would’ve predicted.

Weili Zhang vs. Tecia Torres

I told you. I told you

Cody Garbrandt vs Pedro Munhoz

I got this one wrong because I just decided to go with the odds. Garbrandt is old news. He’s got solid hands, but his chin is gone. A good power puncher just needs to get on the inside and absorb a couple to put him away

Jeremy Stephens vs. Zabit Magomedsharipov

Zabit decided to run from Stephens, all-fight-long. I was wrong in my assessment that Zabit would get the finish, because this man was scared of standing with Stephens for any significant amount of time. This fight could’ve been a draw. It probably should’ve been a draw.

Johnny Walker vs. Misha Cirkunov

Misha had the right attitude going into this fight, but Walker is so damn accurate. Another good unbroken pick. Johnny Walker should have some really big fights coming up.

Cody Stamann vs. Alejandro Perez

The wrestling match didnt go exactly how I imagined it would, but the fight ended how I thought It would

Diego Sanchez vs. Mickey Gall

This is my worst unbrokenmma.com pick ever. Count on it. Why did I say that? I thought that Gall was aggressive enough to get it to the ground quickly, and I did not respect Sanchez’s takedown defense. We found out that Gall is a one round fighter, and that his wrestling is weak. Those are some big holes.

Edmen Shahbazyan vs. Charles Byrd

Nailed this one. Its not the 3rd round finish I predicted, but I thought Byrd would be a bit more durable. Shahbazyan will be a problem though

Gina Mazany vs Macy Chiasson

Chiasson looked stiff and robotic and still got the win. This pick is unbroken

Marlon Vera vs Frankie Saenz

Did not happen. That was a tough fight to predict anyway.

Polyana Viana vs. Hannah Cifers

Cifers is quickly becoming one of my favorite fighters. She is such a powerhouse, she is also very respectful and so focused and reserved. She just represents what a true Martial Artist should be. She got the win as I predicted. I was wrong about it being by Unanimous decision.

I got 9/12 right

Hannah Cifers is unbroken
