UFC 259 Picks

Here what actually happened

This. This is a fantastic card. This is what I want to see. Every fight on the main card means something, and most of the fights on the prelims mean something. Love it. Love it. Love it. Maybe the UFC can save the PPVs for moments like these and stop having throw away PPV cards. We’re still in the pandemic, the vaccine is still getting doled out, and we have no idea when things could be back to normal. I’m optimistic though…We have vaccines, they say its something like 95% efficient. I’m no scientist, but that sounds like a good thing. If we can get these into the right people’s arms, I’m hoping that fans should be back in arenas by the fall,

I have a secret though… I know why this card is stacked… Its because some fights will be cancelled, I hope that I’m wrong about this

Jan BlachowiczvsIsrael Adesanya

OK, so Adesanya picks who he wants to fight. Fought Yoel Romero for no reason, to prepare for Paolo Costa, who he wanted to fight before Yoel Romero. Now he gets another favorable matchup. I’m curious to see if he’ll fight Glover Teixeira after he beats Blachowicz. – I dont think he will. I think he’ll go back down to middleweight and get another favorable match. I dont like it, but it’s actually pretty smart. Its great, when the matchups work for you. Bottom line: I think Adesanya loses to people that put hands on him/grabs him. I think Jan is going to want to play that kickboxing game and get beat

Amanda NunesvsMegan Anderson

I have no idea why this fight is happening. IMO Felicia Spencer deserves a 2nd title shot over Megan Anderson, or they could set up a rematch with Anderson and Spencer. Nunes beats Anderson everywhere. Nunes knows that she can take this to the ground and finish it at any time, but I dont think that is going to happen here. I think Nunes is going to want to strike with Anderson. Amanda Nunes by KO

Petr YanvsAljamain Sterling

Finally, Sterling gets his title shot. I like these two guys a lot. cream of the crop. I’ve been going back and fourth with this pick for a while. I think Yan takes it. I just respect the brutality from the Russian. Aljo has really good wrestling and Jiu Jitsu, but I just think that Yan has seen it. I dont expect Sterling to engage in the stand-up with Yan, and I think Sterling will do a lot of running and throw a lot of pot shots, and in turn Yan will throw a lot of leg kicks, after the kicks take effect, I think it will be the end for Sterling… lmao keep in mind… I say all this, but I still think this fight is very close

Islam MakhachevvsDrew Dober

This is another fantastic fight. I like Dober’s engine and I like Makhachev’s wrestling. Dober has a solid chin, but I dont think Makhachev will be chasing a KO in this fight. I see Islam Makhachev picking up the decision here

Thiago SantosvsAleksandar Rakic

We get to see Santos’s 2nd fight after coming back from two blown out knees. In his 1st fight vs Teixeira, I think he gassed out. He wasn’t ready for that smoke. I think his cardio will be better this time around. I see Santos winning this one by ground and pound

Dominick CruzvsCasey Kenney

Cejudo kinda wrote the blueprint on how to beat Dominick Cruz, and I think Kenney will follow that blueprint. Dont chase, throw leg kicks, avoid the takedown, and throw knees and uppercuts if Cruz tries to enter. I personally think Kenney does all of this well

Kyler PhilipsvsYadong Song

Kyler Phillips is one of the most exciting fighters at 135 right now, and Yadong Song is absolute beast. This fight is special. I’d have no problem if this fight was on the main card, but I love it even more that its on the Prelims(As of this time) Philips is such an unpredictable Martial Artist, that I dont know how he’ll get this done, but I see Phillips getting the win here

Joseph BenavidezvsAskar Askarov

I like Askarov here. I just wonder if he gets the finish or not

Kai Kara-FrancevsRogerio Bontorin

I think Bontorin gets this done

Tim ElliottvsJordan Espinosa

Espinosa is susceptible to the sub, and that’s all Tim Elliott does. I see Elliott picking up the win here

Carlos UlbergvsKennedy Nzechukwu

Interesting fight here. I’m a fan of Fortis MMA, but I dont know what’s been happening there lately. They had a certain style that I looked out for and I liked that style. I cant put my finger on it, but something changed. I like Nzechukwu here, hopefully I get to see that old Fortis style. I think the key for Kennedy is to get this fight to the floor

Sean BradyvsJake Matthews

I’ll start off by saying… I think Sean Brady will be champ. This guy has been fighting local killers for a long time, and he just lives the Martial Artist life. I’d describe his style as like Philly by way of Dagestan, and Jake Matthews is a tough customer himself, I just see Brady getting it done. I dont see him getting the finish in this one, but I see him winning

Livinha SouzavsAmanda Lemos

Livinha Souza shouldn’t be in the UFC, if Lemos cant beat her she shouldn’t be in the UFC either

Uros MedicvsAalon Cruz

The question is, does Cruz have the submission game to stop Medic. I think he does.

Trevin JonesvsMario Bautista

Good fight here. I like Trevin Jones, but just barely

The Nunes fight will be unbroken… as if you didn’t know
