You use this site to get a gist of how fighters are, before they hit the big leagues. I like that. I like seeing how fighters evolve over time. After you look at how I think they did, by all means -watch the fight!! There is no substitute for that.

Anyway, we were at the LFA Apex (Park City, Kansas) for LFA 98. The Kansas commission is very responsive. They enjoy their MMA fans and they are just some common-sense folk. Even though I dont agree with the open scoring in Kansas, the Kansas commission is easily one of the best MMA commissions out there, and that’s why LFA is in that State right now. At LFA 98 Josh Fremd beat Bruno Oliveira in the LFA Middleweight semi-finals, to move on to the finals. Fremd will face either Anthony Adams or Gregory Rodrigues in the final. read more

So LFA 93 Went down in Park City, Kansas. A good show. Not as good as I thought it was going to be though. I thought Sam Hughes was going to fight Cynthia Arceo, and for some reason I thought I’d get to see Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady. For the most part the show delivered. The LFA went with the live scoring option from the Kansas commission for the 2nd time… Live scoring… its…. OK. Its only useful if they think that the judges aren’t scoring the fights at the correct times. -If that is the case, I think the judges should submit their round by round results to a representative of the promotion, they dont have to show the scores to the corners. When they show the scores to the corners, It takes away some of the drama of the fight, its also gives some fighters an incentive to play it safe. Eh… that’s just my 2 cents. So its a tough time for MMA in Texas right now. There were zero local shows in Texas in the last six months and a lot of fighters are heaving a hard time. Guys can travel to places like Florida to try to get fights, but the fighters would have to have those connections already made, and they’d have to stop working to make the trip. Yes, All local fighters have jobs. The LFA is doing a good job getting fighters out to Sioux Falls, and putting on good shows. It would be nice if they could find a more central location for the fighters – But in this pandemic, you have to take what you can get. read more

More fights in this Global Pandemic, more fights in Sioux Falls for the LFA 88. Jaleel Willis was able to edge Vinicius de Jesus on the Judges’ scorecards to Capture the LFA Welterweight title

Main Event

Jaleel Willis vs Vinicius de Jesus – Welterweight

Round 1

Feeling out with Willis doing a little more

Round 2

Leg kicks by de Jesus adding up

Round 3

Close round, more leg kicks by de Jesus

Round 4

leg kicks, with Willis countering sometimes

Round 5

Same, stagnant.🚩 Willis wins by Unanimous decision

It was a pretty stagnant fight. Willis ate a lot of low kicks, and was on the back foot all fight. Neither guy really wanted to clinch. de Jesus was coming forward, but not really offering much with the hands. This fight was basically two, average-to below average boxers, boxing. de Jesus has very strange fights, (case in point, his fight with Jerimiah Wells) I don’t know if guys just dont want to put hands on him, or if he just has a reputation for doing awesome things on the ground, but guys usually want to stay away from him. de Jesus has a great chin though… So there’s that. There is a case to make that de Jesus won this fight, but I didn’t really care, because neither guy really put their stamp on this fight. Pretty standard linear fight. read more

So, I’ve been thinking if I should do the round by round results for the LFA since, its so widely available now. I’m not sure if I should just do commentary on fights, or just keep on doing what I’m doing. I missed a couple of LFA events. I’ll try to get back to them. But this LFA was LFA 79 Royval vs Williams. Royval has had a couple guys pull out of fights, he’s had the TV deal cancellation, he’s had injuries and various amounts of bad luck that was stopping him from getting to the title, but all that stopped today. read more

Surprise! The LFA isn’t gonna be on AXSTV anymore. Isn’t that a fantastic surprise? I’m guessing that they want to get into the wrestling market and just be an all wrestling all the time channel, or something like that. I’ve actually kept a cable package just for AXSTV, just for the LFA. That’s it. And whatever platform the LFA is on, I’m going to watch it, just like LFA 76
