What happened at UFC 251?

Abu Dhabi, UFC 251, the place where all fighters want to fight at some point in their careers. Exotic? Yes. Rich? Yes. This is just a place that every fighter can look back and say, “I fought there”. OK so fight Island? Ehh…. We’ve already been there, we’ve already been to fight Island, its the same Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, but it was just less special then. Anyway, the pandemic is still going on for most of America. A lot of people are still out of jobs, and the country is still moving more slowly than it did before, the fights bring some normalcy. read more

OK, so UFC 250 was an interesting one. especially the Main card. The main card was one of those that needed an audience. My picks were probably the worst I’ve had since I started this. But whatever. I’ve been struggling with a B12 deficiency, and trying to get back on my feet. Everybody has been struggling, the last few months. Anyway enough with the excuses.

Amanda Nunes vs Felicia Spencer

I got this one right. Spencer’s striking has not leveled up. In my opinion she needs to delve deep into boxing. She already has a nice footwork game, but her hands are pretty slow, and her punches don’t seem to do any damage. Boxing gym. Boxing gym. Boxing gym. After she felt Nunes’ power in round 1, she was gun-shy for the entire fight. read more

What happened at UFC 250?

So, the UFC train is still chugging a long, and it seems like we MUST put out a pay-per-view product to the masses, even though one is not warranted right now. The things that multi-billion corporations do for the almighty dollar… At this time. I would just like to see the UFC put out “free” ESPN content and use only young fighters. The young fighters need the money, people dont want to pay for a lack-luster pay-per-view (UFC 250) right now, and the big fights could wait till most of the pandemic is over and people are back to work. What do I know… on to the fights read more

So, UFC 249/ Some things happened that kinda took away from what we really wanted to see. Gaethje beat Ferguson, yes, it happened. But like I said in my previous post, I still think the Khabib v. Tony fight will happen.

Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje

I got this wrong. Gaethje changed his game. He has head movement and he has a good sprawl. He’s not just standing in front of guys anymore. Ferguson just got hit with too many big shots for too long, the pace needed to change, the method needed to change, and he didn’t do it read more

OK, so its a rough time for a lot of people. There is a lot of uncertainty, a lot of people have lost jobs, there is a lot of loneliness and just a lot of drab feelings in general, and MMA is here to bring back a little more normalcy.

I put the date as May 16th fights would resume, but I didn’t rule out a Florida card happening before, and I was right. If you guys dont follow me on Twitter, please follow me at @unBROKENMMA

Now for the fights. These are really tough prediction, because everyone has just been out of it, guys could have gotten better, guys could have gotten worse. read more

What happened at UFC 248?

OK. It was eh….

One particularly memorable fight on the card. Its a shame that the Judges got the winner of this fight wrong.

Israel Adesanya vs Yoel Romero

I said that Romero was not a worthy title contender. I was right. Romero threw everything away in this fight, because nothing was earned. Do you think if Romero was on a 5 fight win streak and was grinding out victories, he’d do this? Not a chance. Romero was fighting like a title wasn’t on the line. Garbage.

Zhang Weili vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk

I got this wrong, but I also think the wrong lady won. I had Joanna winning this fight. I was scoring each round. I tell you what though. If this was a Muay Thai fight with Thai rules, I think Zhang wins, but I think Jedrzejczyk should have got the victory here. One thing is certain, when people reference UFC 248, this will be the fight that they look back on. Rematch… read more

So, I was thinking about heading to The Bomb Factory to watch some of these fights, but I’m glad I did not. I wasn’t stirred. The Judges were bad, but the Mixed Martial Arts was good.

Texas, Oh Texas, why are you so beautiful, yet so damn frustrating. I really think the Judges gave the fights to the favorites on the card. I dont think that they actually know what they’re looking at. Its complete garbage

I’ve been kinda keeping up with the Fury promotion. They have great talent down there in Houston. The atmosphere is good, but the judging is soooooo bad. You guys saw it at UFC 247. It can get down right horrible at times, and I really think there is legit corruption there. I cant prove it, but the scores just dont make any sense.

Main Event

Christian Lira vs Jacob Silva – Featherweight – Fury FC title

Round 1

Silva bounces well, throws some good single strikes. He backs up and rocks Lira with a flying knee and is able to get him down and beat him up. 🚩Silva wins by TKO read more

So here is what actually happened.

I’m not thrilled about this UFC 248. You know what? It kinda seems like a fight night card. This one to me kinda feels like a UFC XXX money grab, but that’s what they do now. Bellator needs a ranking system so people can keep up with what’s in the mix, and the LFA needs a bigger platform, and it needs to differentiate itself from all of the other smaller promotions. -Those are the two biggest US competitors, with the UFC IMO.

Anyway….

Israel AdesanyavsYoel Romero

OK, so Yoel Romero is NOT a worthy challenger. Of course he’s good, he’s tough, He’s a physical specimen, but he lost his last two fights. Losing gets you a title shot? Jeeze-louise, I mean, at least feed him a lower ranked guy and let him get a win before challenging for the title. I think this fight came around because of Joe Rogan. Rogan has certain UFC perks, and one of them is calling for fights that he wants to see, on his big platform. I think this is what happened here. OK, since I have no power, no say, and I have to accept that this fight is going to happen, here’s how it’s going to go: Adesanya will beat the hell out of Yoel Romero. From Round 2 – onwards, Adesanya will out-strike Romero and batter him and he will make it look easy. Now Romero is super tough, so he might not get finished, but, he will get his ass worked. In the end it will be a comprehensive victory for Adesanya. Why is this going to happen? Mobility, Adesanya has it and Romero does not. Its just a bad matchup for Romero, again, NOT a worthy title challenger read more
