UFC 258 Picks

UFC 258 Picks

So we’re back in the USA, back in Vegas and ready for more fights. The card aint so sexy, but you know, I guess the UFC has a PPV commitment. The model definitely needs to be changed. Maybe after the UFC pays off their debt they’ll change the model, but I can see this kinda thing going on for at least 2 more years.

I just know that some of these fights will be cancelled, and/or switched around…whatever

Kamaru UsmanvsGilbert Burns

I absolutely HATE picking fights between training partners. I hate it. The fights are usually weird and the fighters usually dont fight like themselves. Usman and Burns are friends, and have been training together for a long time, and now they get to fight each other. This happens a lot in Thai – Muay Thai fights, and those guys are still able to put on a show, so maybe these guys will put on a show here. I just think the grappling and striking is equal in the contest, and I think that Usman is a little more durable read more

LFA 98 Results

LFA 98 Results

You use this site to get a gist of how fighters are, before they hit the big leagues. I like that. I like seeing how fighters evolve over time. After you look at how I think they did, by all means -watch the fight!! There is no substitute for that.

Anyway, we were at the LFA Apex (Park City, Kansas) for LFA 98. The Kansas commission is very responsive. They enjoy their MMA fans and they are just some common-sense folk. Even though I dont agree with the open scoring in Kansas, the Kansas commission is easily one of the best MMA commissions out there, and that’s why LFA is in that State right now. At LFA 98 Josh Fremd beat Bruno Oliveira in the LFA Middleweight semi-finals, to move on to the finals. Fremd will face either Anthony Adams or Gregory Rodrigues in the final. read more

XKO 49 Results

XKO 49 Results

For some reason, XKO didnt really want to give this fight card a name. They were just calling it XKO. I got XKO 49 from Tapology. I hope its right. I think the show was just a tad disappointing, several fights fell out, and they had a PPV broadcast on their website (the PPV video worked flawlessly). I paid the 24.99 and I watched and I think I was probably the only one that paid this, because the fight card wasn’t very sexy. I didnt get to see Logan Nail, I didnt get to see John Tao, I didnt get to see any of the Fortis MMA guys. Was it worth the price? No -Eh, whatever, I got to see Landry Ward, and that was kinda worth it. – OK I think the price of this card should’ve been about 14.99, I think that’s a solid price… Lmao so… I got screwed I guess. read more

What happened at UFC 257?

What happened at UFC 257?

So Dustin Poirier beat Conor McGregor by TKO in round 2 at UFC 257

These are my UFC 257 picks

Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor

OK, I got this wrong, a couple of things; Poirier had a good game plan, those lowkicks did the trick, and it countered McGregor’s broad stance that he uses all the time. McGregor also loves to go into a boxing stance, and that’s even worse, because then, he’s heavy on the lead leg. Anyway, he got his leg smashed, which made him immobile, and basically set up the finish. The 2nd thing is that McGregor was moving down in weight for the first time in 2 years. I personally think that McGregor dehydrated his body for this fight, and his chin was gone. So whats next? Poirier is in the mix for the title. Oh yeah…..and Khabib isnt coming back read more

LFA 97 results

LFA 97 results

OK, so the LFA is back, bringing you great fights as usual. They switched up their broadcast team a little bit. Pat Miletich is no longer present. I dont want to get political nor personal here, but Pat Miletich is a fantastic commentator. When he’s not biased to fighters that he knows, he calls great fights. Its a shame that they lost him IMO. They had the three person booth at LFA and…. for me…. it was just too crowded. The two person booth works so much better for a show like the LFA, and I’m not a fan of two commentators talking about their own Jiu Jitsu classes while a fight is going on. Ron Kruck is still there, and he had a good night quaterbacking the broadcast team, but 3 people -I just dont like it. read more

UFC 257 Picks

Its past… And this is what happened at UFC 257

The UFC back, back in Abu Dhabi for UFC 257 McGregor vs Poirier 2. Of course Dana White is playing weird games with the 155 title. I’ve said this on twitter. – If Conor McGregor and/or Michael Chandler wins, the title is gonna be up for grabs, If both McGregor and Chandler lose, then we’re gonna have to wait for the Justin Gaethje vs Charles Oliveira fight. I guess when youre the president, you get to play these games.

Dustin PoiriervsConor McGregor

Ok, So McGregor won the first fight, but it was in 2014 and it was at 145, And I personally think that both these guys were dehydrating themselves at 145. so… I think that Poirier will be a little harder to knock out this time. McGregor is coming off that big fight where he embarrassed Cowboy Cerrone, so I know his confidence will be high. I got McGregor here by decision read more

Best in Texas 2020

Best in Texas 2020

We’ve had a rough year for MMA in 2020. There are so many fighters that missed out on their development this year and I’m pretty sure a lot of fighters had to quit MMA, because of the pandemic, but hopefully a lot of real fighters still have that spark and continue to train and get better. Some people say that you should never have a plan B. – 😅 I’m an advocate for plan Bs, and plan Cs and plan Qs, because you never know what life’s gonna throw at you, There is a vaccine now, and I’ve heard that its effective, so hopefully in 2021 we can all put this 2020 madness behind us. I dont know how the vaccine will work, but I’m hopeful. Just hopeful. read more

Fury FC 43 Results

Fury FC 43 Results

MMA in Texas is back! At 50% capacity, but that’s better than no capacity. I tuned in to Fury 43 broadcasting from Humble, TX. We got to hear the crowds scream at an event for the first time in a long time. And I think the UFC should think about coming to Texas. 50% ain’t too shabby. The fights… I didn’t think the pro fights were very good. The amateur fights showcased some upcoming talent. Anyway in the main event featured Nico Echeverry beating Edmilson Freitas for the Fury FC Lightweight title read more

What happened at UFC 256?

What happened at UFC 256?

I feel like off the bat, I need to apologize, these are –bar none, the worst picks I’ve ever done, as some of you may know, I usually pick, all the UFC cards, the full show, I post the Fight Night picks on Twitter. And this….this… This is the worst for me. Deiveson Figueiredo fought Brandon Moreno to a majority draw at UFC 256, thus Figueiredo retains his UFC flyweight title. UFC 256 was a Fantastic Event

Deveison Figueiredo vs Brandon Moreno

I scored this fight for Figueiredo, I scored it exactly like Derek Clearly. I’m not too upset with the decision though, because it was close. What I am upset with is that Figgy lost a point after one low-blow. ONE, one. Is Herzog going to take a point for every low blow now? Anyway, I dont care to see a rematch right away, I actually would like to see Brandon Moreno vs Cody Garbrandt, and the winner of that could face Figgy. Figgy? I wouldn’t mind seeing him against Petr Yan, in all honesty read more
