So XKO hit us with “XKO: Summer bash”. Also known as XKO 46. and I really like the XKO promotion, maybe because its my local promotion, maybe because I like the little themes that they come up with, and maybe because I like the format. – They sprinkle Muay Thai events in the fightcard to off-set some of the more grapple-heavy bouts.

Anyway, So the show wasn’t around the Arlington area this time. This time it was at “Gas Monkey Live” in Dallas and I am not a fan of this place holding MMA events. It was weird, with a huge bar dividing the cheap seats and you have to order your food from the kitchen, at the bar. The cage seemed really far away, and Its like, you pay money to be in an area that they just try to sell you stuff read more

Contender Series grades

ALL CONTENDER SERIES 2019 GRADES

So, I’ve been watching the contender series, and I’m hoping to see some guys that I’ve seen on the local scene. After 2 weeks, the talent looks dry. I think the show set up some of their preferred fighters to shine and they failed.

Here are grades of some of the talent on the show. These grades are only based on their Contender Series performance, and not their performance before in other organizations

Yorgan De Castro, Punahele Soriano, Miles Johns & Miguel Baeza got picked from this batch. read more

Jon JonesvsThiago Santos

This is the biggest test for Jon Jones ever. I think Thiago Santos is a very worthy opponent. I do not think he’s only a “hard hitter”. He is crafty on the ground, very technical, and very durable. I think he had a fluke loss against David Branch. Jon Jones is the best Mixed Martial Artist ever, and I think that he’ll get the victory here. I think that he has to withstand some storms though. This fight is not going to be like the Anthony Smith fight.

Amanda NunesvsHolly Holm

This is a tough fight to call. Holly Holm is a very worthy opponent, and I think she’s going to get it done here. I think she is going to go for technical-point fighting to get the win. read more

Here are my picks

Henry Cejudo vs. Marlon Moraes

I got this fight right. Cejudo did weather that storm and I knew that he had to put some pressure on Moraes. I just thought that it would go longer. It looks like Moraes wilts under pressure-phonebooth fighting. It was right-hooks and knees from Cejudo, as he got the win. AND I love Cejudo’s little gimmicks, the dude was called boring, but now the man is fun and smooth, and a fantastic fighter. He called out some OLD folks in his post fight speech though. He should’ve called out Ricky Simon and Cory Sandhagen, if he wanted to be legit. read more

Here’s how it turned out

Henry CejudovsMarlon Moraes

These are very worthy challengers for the Bantamweight title. I think Cejudo beat Dillashaw fairly-squarely when the two fought, even though that dude was jacked-up on EPO. I think Moraes would whoop Dillashaw’s ass no matter what steroid he was on. Moraes always looked to me, like aliens made him in a lab. Anyway, I think Cejudo will win this one, because Cejudo has terrific wrestling. I think he’ll have to weather some storms though, but I think he gets it done in 25 minutes. A lot a grapple-fucking read more
