LFA 91 Results

The LFA is finishing up its time in Sioux Falls. Chidi Njokuani was able to stop Christian Torres by strikes, in the second round, in the Main event.

Main Event

Cristhian Torres vs Chidi Njokuani – Middleweight

Round 1

They Clinch. Throw single shots, and Njokuani shows off his Muay Thai Base

Round 2

Njokuani drops Torres with a quick left high-kick and puts a hellacious beating on him on the ground. Torres is able to stand and Njokuani knees him to the body and finishes the fight.🚩 Njokuani wins by TKO

Torres is tough and wild, and sloppy in transitions. Njokuani hates to be pressured, and looks like a slave to that Muay Thai style he has, when his style works well- its works very well though

Kyle Stewart vs Tim Caron – Middleweight

Round 1

Stewart lands a spin kick and some hooks. Caron is able to clinch up

Round 2

Stewart gets a takedown, works on the ground and rains down some ground and pound to get the stoppage. 🚩Stewart wins by TKO

Caron looked a little run-of-the-mill here. Stewart shouldn’t have been cut from the UFC, he lost to a tough Chance Rencountre. Also Chance Rencountre shouldn’t have been cut from the UFC

Jamal Pogues vs Tim Hiley – Light Heavyweight

Round 1

Pogues clinches, gets the takedown eventually takes Hiley’s back. Hiley is able to reverse and take Pogue’s back.

Round 2

Pogues glues himself to Hiley and gets the takedown

Round 3

Pogues cliches and gets the takedown. 🚩Pogues wins by unanimous decision

Pogues was just bigger, and he kept it safe. I see nothing special about Pogues. If there is a young, big Light heavyweight out there, that wants to make a name for himself, he should fight Pogues. Didn’t see anything here from Hiley, he got stifled

Hailey Cowan vs Kelly Clayton – Bantamweight

Round 1

Cowan is able to reverse a takedown attempt from Clayton and get on top. Clayton goes for three armbars and Cowan powers out of all of them. Tense time on the ground

Round 2

Clayton drops Cowan with a right as she tries to come in, Clayton then catches her neck with a guillotine after Cowan tries getting up. Clayton gets the tap. 🚩Kelly Clayton wins by submission

OK, I like to tweet during the fights, and I tweeted that Cowan lost her fight against Cloudy, and wasn’t honest about it, and the LFA blocked me.😂 yes they blocked me. THE LFA! However I’m still a fan of my Texan sister Hailey Cowan. Ok this is the deal, Cowan fights like a power-lifter, she’s strong, but there is no finesse to her game. I also follow her on Instagram and all I see from her is her pumping iron. What she needs is Jiu Jitsu and submission grappling, I dont care if its Gi, or no-Gi, that is what she needs. And she needs to just roll, roll, roll. So she should stop pumping iron for a little bit, and start grappling, with real people. Jiu Jitsu is all about technique, and if you combine her strength with technique, I think she can be dangerous. Id tell her to just dive right into all Jiu Jitsu, and just work on boxing. Pumping iron is her comfort-zone, and she needs to be out of that zone. As for Clayton, she’s good, I dont like how she spent round one on her back, but she just looked more advanced. I didn’t get to see a lot of her stand up game, but Clayton threw good leg kicks

Nick Maximov vs Johnny James Jr. – Light Heavyweight

Round 1

Maximov fights for a takedown. Jane Fights it off and does more damage. Maximov keeps trying to wrestle and James is doing more damage.

Round 2

They roll with Maximov having the better of the positions. Maximov rolls around with James and finds himself on James’ back. Nick Maximov gets the RNC🚩 Maximov wins by submission

James gave up, I dont know if his cardio was trash, I dont know if he is heartless, I dont know why he chose to give up. Maximov only has a ground game, and its not even a very good ground game at that. -average at best.

Nate Richardson vs Darius Estell – Featherweight

Round 1

Richardson is piecing up Estell. Estell clinches . Richardson takes control and does some damage against the cage

Round 2

Estell eats some shots and gets a sloppy takedown and takes the back. Richardson gets out. Estell rocks Richardson and moves forward.

Round 3

Richardson tries to wall and stall and Estell gets the takedown. They get up and strike each other one punch at a time. 🚩Richardson wins by unanimous decision

Richardson is technically more gifted and faster, but Estell is just a fighter. -He’s the type of guy to Just say no, to whatever you think you want to do to him. He was never out of this fight. Estell’s cardio was great all throughout this fight. If he gets real, technical training, he could really shake things up. Richardson is talent. He has a below average wrestling game, and he got winded pretty fast, but his technical striking looks legit. He needs to work on his grappling and his cardio needs to improve

Josh Quinlan vs Peter Keepers – Welterweight

Round 1

Keepers is static and Quinlan moves around well. Quinlan lands a significant 1-2 and lands some leg kicks

Round 2

Quinlan throws some leg kicks, and nails Keepers with a punch, that sends him into a drunken stupor, Quinlan then puts Keepers out.🚩 Quinlan wins by KO

Didn’t see much of a ground game from either of these guys, but Quinlan looks solid in the stand up game. I like that he recognized that the l0w-kicks were there. Keepers looked nervous and stiff.

Estell in his loss was unbroken at LFA 91
