LFA 60: Round by Round results

LFA 60

LFA 60 kept it rolling, and the promotion stopped in Des Moines, Iowa, to take a look at some of the Local talent

Main Card

Julius Anglickas vs Clayton York – Light heavyweight

Round 1

York starts off by throwing leg kicks, and he looks good, he then goes in for a clinch, and he looks good, Anglickas reverses the position and York looks bad. York starts to close his guard, and Anglickas takes over.

Round 2

Anglickas rides York out on the ground, and it is obvious that York does not know the ground. Anglickas catches him as he’s getting up, and sinks in the rear naked choke.🚩 Anglickas wins by submission.

York looked gassed and heartless. He never fought the hands once the choke was sunk in. He looked like what he is, a football player fighting MMA. Anglickas got tested in the first round when he was able to fight off a takedown, other than that, he was in control all fight. Anglickas claims the vacant light heavyweight title.

Anthony Baccam vs Trey Ogden – Lightweight

Round 1

Both guys start feeling out each other with kicks. Both guys seem to move very well. It is obvious that Ogden is counter-punching and going to the body for the majority of the round. Ogden hits a takedown and beats up Baccam towards the end of round 1.

Round 2

Ogden hits a takedown early, and proceeds to put a beatdown on Baccam. The position gets reversed, and Ogden is able to get back to his feet.

Round 3

Ogden puts Baccam in a modified head and arm choke and rides him out for the majority of the round.🚩 Ogden wins by Unanimous decision

Baccam was weak, and Ogden knew this, that’s why he held him in that modified Arm-triangle for such a long time. Ogden didn’t look especially impressive, but his great fight IQ has to be taken into consideration.

Luis Saldana vs Carl Wittstock – Featherweight

Round 1

Clinchworrk by Wittstock. Saldana is able to neutralize him and get on top. Saldana looks to be in control on the ground, but cant seem to put together anything substantial.

Round 2

Saldana tightens Wittstock up with some kicks. Wittstock goes in for the takedown, but gets neutralized and beaten up. Saldana eventually sinks in a rear naked choke.🚩 Saldana wins by technical submission.

Saldana has great wrestling, and his kicks look fantastic, but he needs to be more brutal on the ground, he also needs to tighten up more technical aspects of his Jiu Jitsu. He has a very high upside. Wittstock, on the other hand, is just known for his heart, and technique beats heart almost every time.

Jonathon Thomson vs Darrius Flowers – Catchweight 173

Round 1

The two exchange blows. Thomson tries to strike with Flowers, and it is apparent that Flowers doesn’t respect his opponent’s strikes at all. The two clinch and Flowers lands a couple of knees from the clinch, knocking out Thomson.🚩 Flowers wins by KO

I’m a huge fan of Darrius “Beastmode” Flowers. His boxing is fantastic, his wrestling mostly compliments his striking, but make no mistake, he can wrestle, his Jits is defensive, and his power is tremendous. His downsides are, he tends to open himself up to take a punch, to land a punch, and his gas tank can be suspect in some fights. Look out for this one.

Jordin Hinman vs Dakota Bush – Lightweight

Round 1

Hinman looks long and lean. He comes out aggressive and takes the back, there is a reversal by Bush and he takes Hinman’s back. Hinman somersaults to try to spike Bush’s head on the mat, it doesn’t work. Bush sinks in the RNC and Hinman passes out. 🚩Bush wins by technical submission.

Hinman looked good, but he was too jazzed up, and he wanted to look for the finish a little too early. Bush was able to be calm and adapt to the situation, and get the finish. I’ll be looking to see more from Bush.

Patrick Martin vs Byron Stevens – Heavyweight

Round 1

Martin looks stiff on the feet, but shows some quick hands, and puts Stevens down with a right hook. He then proceeds to pound Stevens out. 🚩Martin wins by TKO

Stevens is really fat, and showed no head movement. Martin also had an 8 inch reach, or something ridiculous… This was supposed to be a beating. I’d certainly like to see more from Martin in the future.
