LFA 109 Results

We’re in Oklahoma for a little LFA. The UFC has been really riding with the LFA recently, they’ve been promoting it, and they’ve been sending fighters over there to do commentary, and they’ve been really close to the organization. It is kind of unheard of for the LFA to keep a champion around for a long time

Terrence McKinney vs Michael Irizarry – 160 lbs

Round 1

McKinney comes out throwing highkicks that make him do backflips. McKinney throws some hands, Irizarry tries to wrestle, McKinney wrestles him off, Irizarry gets wrestled down, and McKinney postures up in his guard and rains down right hands. McKinney knocks Irizarry out cold.🚩 McKinney wins by KO

Terrence McKinney came out to take off Irizarry’s head off, and he did. After the fight the commentary was saying Irizarry should calm down. LMAO…really…Anyway the man is exciting, but he’s had some bad results in the Contender Series. The LFA could let him face a champion, and then evaluate him from there.

Justin Wetzell vs Askar Askar – Bantamweight

Round 1

Wetzell pushes the pace and tries for submissions

Round 2

Wetzell nails Askar, gets the takedown and puts a beatdown on him.🚩 Wetzell wins by TKO

Justin Wetzell is a solid fighter, he pushes a good pace, and he brings the fight to his opponents. his striking is getting a lot better, and he fights with bad intentions. The LFA styled this fight as a “winner to the UFC” kinda fight. So I expect to see Wetzell get an opportunity soon. Askar? I’m not that impressed.

Robson Junior vs Edwin Cooper Jr. – Featherweight

Round 1

Cooper gets the takedown and proceeds to put a beatdown on Robson Jr. In the midst of the beatdown Robson turns his head and Cooper punches him in the back of the head, the referee gives no warning and a point is taken from Cooper.

Round 2

Cooper gets a takedown and just punches Robson in the head.🚩 Edwin Cooper Jr wins by TKO

Wrestling, that’s the long and short of it. Cooper Jr. has wrestling and Robson does not. Cooper also has great ground and pound, it’s obvious that he trains a lot on his ground and pound. I hope to see more of Cooper’s stand up game in the future

Round 1

Bennett clinches and strikes, Trias breaks off and lands some punches. Bennett is able to get the takedown and does some work on the ground

Round 2

Round 3

Trias comes out throwing bombs, and puts the storm on Bennett, Bennett is able to get a big takedown and ride out the round.🚩 Bennett wins by unanimous decision

Bennett is a physical specimen, she’s built for work, but she doesnt have the technical skills, her striking looks sub-par and she just eats strikes on the regular, but Bennett is physically strong, and she has OK wrestling. Trias has good hands and bad grappling.
