LFA, doing what they do. I had to pick between watching LFA 105 and the PFL. I chose the organization that uses all the MMA rules. LFA – Full MMA
Main Event
Svetlana Gotsyk vs Piera Rodriguez – Strawweight
Round 1
Gotsyk with a lot of movement, and lands some big shots
Round 2
Gotsyk lands some big counters but Rodriguez comes back and lands some big shots
Round 3
Close Round
Round 4
Back and fourth
Round 5
Gotsyk shoots for a takedown and Rodriguez is able to reverse it and get to back mount. Rodriguez rains down strikes. 🚩Rodriguez wins by TKO
Usually LFA champs can go straight to the UFC. I dont think this is the case for these ladies. Rodriguez has better strikes, but her footwork is atrocious. Gotsyk has good footwork, but she looks like a pad-hitter. I’m just not impressed. I think they rushed into crowning a new LFA strawweight champ. Maybe Gotsyk was booked, and they had to find someone to fight her on short notice. Anyway, I think Loveth Young awaits
Canaan Kawaiihae vs Jake Childers – Featherweight
Round 1
Kawaiihae throws some leg kicks. Childers shoots for a single and gets caught in a front choke. 🚩Kawaiihae wins by submission
I did not expect this from Childers after the war he had in his last fight. Its a little disappointing. In high level MMA, you cant be too greedy for the takedown
Bruce Souto vs Cristian Torres – Light Heavyweight – Torres missed weight
Round 1
Souto grappling well , works to the back, but cant get the choke
Round 2
Souto takes the back but cant get the choke
Round 3
Souto takes Torres’ back but cant get the choke. 🚩Souto wins by unanimous decision
Souto needs to work on finishing the rear naked choke. Souto also bites on big feints in the stand up game, but Torres isnt talented enough to punish him
Mark Martin vs Renato Valente – Welterweight
Round 1
Valente fights off some takedowns and scores with some lowkicks. Martin has a little striking success. Valente is flatfooted
Round 2
Valente is just reacting to Martin. Valente gets a little more comfortable as the round goes on
Round 3
Same as the 3rd. 🚩Martin wins by Split decision
This was a relatively boring fight with Valente getting heavily coached throughout the fight. Credit to the coaching, I think Valente’s coach is the one that earned him the split decision. Martin looks like a pad hitter, but has great footwork. Martin was also looking for the takedown, but never got it. Not impressed with either of these guys.
Tabitha Ricci vs Shawna Ormsby – Strawweight
Round 1
Ricci clinches and gets the takedown. Ormsby twists out of a very deep armbar. I thought I was going to see an arm break there for a while. They stand and Ricci does some work on the feet
Round 2
Ormsby is stiff on the feet . Ricci clinches and does some work. Ricci gets and take down ands lands some ground and pound. 🚩Ricci wins by TKO
The LFA has been feeding Tabitha Ricci cans to build her name. I have no idea why. I wonder if they will ever give her a real fight. They are talking about her fighting for the title, and even THAT is an easy fight for her. Tabitha Ricci must have some good connections. Anyway…Ricci’s jiu-jitsu is good, her wrestling is below average, and her striking is bad. Ormsby is horrible the feet, horrible…her footwork is terrible, she is very stiff and very slow, on the ground Ormsby is scrappy, but its just tough scrappy, she isnt very technical
Zac Pauga vs Logan Nail – Light Heavyweight
Round 1
They box, Nail is a little flatfooted. Nail shoots in and gets some good strikes in the clinch. Pauga lands a big right that rocks Nail, and Pauga uses a little better footwork
Round 2
Pauga gets the takedown. Nail closes the guard on Pauga and the Elevation Fight Team man does some work inside the guard
Round 3
Nail needs better lateral movement. Pauga clinches and land some good knees. Nail is able to take it to the floor and looks in a guillotine. Pauga fights out of it. 🚩Pauga wins by unanimous decision.
This was the highest level fight on the whole fight card. at 3-0 Zak Pauga is UFC ready…Yes I said it. Nail needs some seasoning, but he’s on his way to being UFC ready. Nail is having a hard time finding fights at 205 in Texas, if he wants to stay active, he may have to travel, and/or take some fights at heavyweight. Nail needs a little bitter lateral movement, and Pauga is gritty, but his stand up could be a little more crisp.
Nail & Pauga were unbroken
