Fury FC 37 Round by Round results

So I’ve been trying my best to see LFA 77, I’ve been trying to look at any video that I can of the event, but it’s just hard to find. I believe that they plan on releasing the event on some other platform, I will review that show, but I have no idea when.

The LFA postponed two of its following shows, so, I’m thinking that it will take at least a month for LFA to be broadcasted again. I dont want to see it on fightpass, simply because I think that the LFA would get lost in the sea of other promotions, and I think that the LFA should get broadcasted to a mass audience. Fox Sports, NBCSN and CBS should all look at the LFA.

I watched some CFFC 78 and one of my favorite fighters, Jeremiah Wells wrapped up a very impressive win to capture the 170 title. Speaking of 170 titles, The Fury FC Welterweight Champ traveled to Michigan to win the WXC title. Damn, Anthony Ivy is such a bad ass. He just embraced the grind and got better and better, and he’s so good with adversity. He should get called up to the UFC very soon

Anyway, Fury FC 37 was in Denver, Colorado. The Fury promotion has been traveling as of late, and just giving these fighters a platform to express themselves.

Main Card

Nikolay Veretinnikov vs Austin Jones – Welterweight

Round 1

Feeling out, until Veretinnikov lands a spinning back kick and hurts Jones. Nikolay chases Jones down and hits him with a knee to the body and pummels Jones unconscious. 🚩Veretinnikov wins by TKO

Veretinnikov just looks like he has good fundamentals. I learned nothing about the man in this fight. It was a feeling out process until Jones felt like he didn’t like that spinning back kick to the gut.

Gabriel Macario vs Jordan Titoni – Featherweight

Round 1

Titoni tries to grapple and gets stuffed. Macario sits Titoni down with a left. Titoni is able to get up and take Macario down and beat him up on the floor for a while

Round 2

Titoni gets Macario down and beats him up on the floor

Round 3

Macario is flat-footed and slow and only throwing one shot at a time. Titoni gets the takedown and beats him up on the ground. Fantastic refereeing in this fight. 🚩 Titoni wins by unanimous decision

Titoni looks like he has great wrestling, but his stand up game is bad. Macario looks like meat for wrestlers. Any good puncher with good footwork might be able to get one over on Macario

Lance Wright vs Hayward Charles – Middleweight

Round 1

Charles clinches and pulls guard on Lance Wright. Charles hits a deep straight armbar from bottom and sweeps Wright. Wright fights through it. Wright also fights through a head and arm choke and they stand. They grapple and stand again

Round 2

Charles rocks Wright with a right. Wright falls and Charles slaps on an anaconda. 🚩 Charles wins by submission

Hayward Charles is a little bit of a progression marker. He is a a tough experienced grappler with poor hands. If you have a good standup game, Charles tests you’re ground game. If you have a good ground game, you probably will beat Charles, anyway, Wright was not ready for prime time

Rajan Adwan vs Jorge Martinez – Flyweight

Round 1

Martinez is showing good combinations in spurts, he then goes for a takedown and grapples with Adwan against the cage, he goes for a guillotine and misses it, and then locks in a triangle. 🚩 Martinez wins by submission

Martinez didn’t give Adwan any room to breathe, he gave him no time to access the situation, and it was over. I’ll be looking to see more from Martinez

Kyle Broadwater vs Edwin Chavez – Featherweight

Round 1

Chavez is running and Broadwater is chasing. Edwin Chavez is able to get a hold of Broadwater, take him down and take his back. Chavez wrecks Broadwater on the ground.

Round 2

Broadwater comes out aggressive and gets taken down. Chavez continues to beat up his opponent on the ground

Round 3

Chavez hits some kicks. Gets Broadwater down and pounds him out. 🚩 Chavez wins by TKO

Chavez looks educated on the ground, but looks a little green on the feet. Broadwater has massive improvements to make.

Jovidon Sorbon vs Clay Matza – Featherweight

Round 1

Sorbon starches Matza with an overhand right and pounds him out. Sorbon wins by KO

This is one of those one punch fights, where nothing is learned. Well… we know that Sorbon has knock out power, but that’s about it.

Tony Nguyen vs Max Rojas – Bantamweight

Round 1

Apprehensive. Nguyen is tall and is using his length. Rojas is able to close the distance and take Nguyen down.

Round 2

Rojas is a little gassed and closes the distance. The referee stops the fight for some reason, after Rojas loses his mouthpiece. Rojas hits Nguyen with a body kick and finishes him with punches. 🚩 Rojas wins by TKO

Nguyen was using his length and nothing more. Rojas has some talent, but he gassed very early. It would be very interesting to see him with a better gas tank.

Carlos Calderon vs Hector Combest Ammy Featherweight

Round 1

Calderon comes out – Hands down, Combest throws a kick and takes him down. They stand, and Calderon gives his opponent several different looks. Calderon goes in and grabs a guillotine and scrambles around to lock up a triangle. 🚩 Calderon wins by submission

Calderon is an exciting fighter. He breaks all the right rules at the right time. Seasoned pros will punish him for breaking some of those rules, but as an Ammy, I bet he can have a lot of fun. He has a very interesting style, he’s awkward, he switches stances often, and he’s scrambly and persistent on the ground. I’ll keep an eye on him. Combest did not have a bad showing. He should be a little more loose on the feet, and he needs better defensive wrestling.

Nojus Namajunas vs Robin Maggs Ammy Featherweight

Round 1

Namajunas comes out with a flying kick and is just fighting reckless. Nojus hits Maggs square in the mouth with a right and finishes him. 🚩 Namajunas wins by TKO

Nojus Namajunas is the brother of Rose Namajunas, and he looks incredibly wild. He did not respect anything from his opponent, and he came to destroy

David Linares vs Oscar Herrera Ammy men’s Strawweight

Round 1

Herrera looks bigger and just a little more polished

Round 2

Linares is looking to take down Herrera and Herrera locks up a triangle. Herrera elbows Linares while the fighter is in his triangle and loses a point. There are no elbows in Amateur MMA in Colorado.

Round 3

Herrera hits Linares with some kicks and takes him down. The bigger man gets on top and land some hammerfists. 🚩 Oscar Herrera wins by unanimous decision.

Herrera is big and flashy and Linares just looked small.

Rocky Ramon Nava vs Ben Armendariz Ammy Flyweight

Round 1

Nava takes Armendariz down and puts some gloves on him. Armendariz is able to get up and looks a little slow. Armendariz goes for the takedown at the end of the round.

Round 2

They slug a little and Nava gets the takedown, Armendariz is able to reverse it.

Round 3

Nava still looks fit and very elusive and rocks Armendariz with some uppercuts, and sprawls on some takedown attempts. Nava gets Armendariz down and beats him up on the ground. 🚩 Nava wins by split decision.

This fight was clearly Nava’s I dont know what other fight that one judge was watching. Nava is talent. He’s fast, and has quick hands. He does not fight like an amateur and just looks polished

Hector Leon vs Mario Suazo Ammy Bantamweight

Round 1

Suazo comes out throwing heat. Leon is absorbing and fighting conservatively. Suazo goes for a few takedowns and gets stuffed.

Round 2

Both guys trade kicks and punches. Leon takes Suazo down and takes his back, Suazo is able to get out. There is a break from a low-blow and the ref does an excellent job allowing the fighter to recover. They scramble on the ground to end the round.

Round 3

Suazo goes for a guillotine and Leon ends up on top. Leon is able to put an RNC on Suazo, but the bell comes before the tap. 🚩 Leon wins by unanimous decision.

I thought Suazo won this fight, but it was very close. Suazo needs to be more technical and efficient. He came out like a house on fire, but, he wasn’t able to sustain all that aggression over three rounds. Leon needs to be more accurate and ruthless. Both guys have potential

Paul Lucero vs Sam Fernandez Ammy Featherweight

Round 1

These two rock each other, going strike for strike. Lucero takes it to the ground. Fernandez scrambles and gets an armbar. Fernandez wins by sub.

There wasn’t a lot between these two. There was little defense and all heart. Fernandez was able the catch his opponent in the end.
