So I’ve been trying my best to see LFA 77, I’ve been trying to look at any video that I can of the event, but it’s just hard to find. I believe that they plan on releasing the event on some other platform, I will review that show, but I have no idea when.
The LFA postponed two of its following shows, so, I’m thinking that it will take at least a month for LFA to be broadcasted again. I dont want to see it on fightpass, simply because I think that the LFA would get lost in the sea of other promotions, and I think that the LFA should get broadcasted to a mass audience. Fox Sports, NBCSN and CBS should all look at the LFA.read more
LFA 57 kicked off in Denver Colorado. There were some good fights and quick finishes. LFA will be stepping it up this year and putting on more shows, so, you’ll be seeing a lot of reviews here.
Fight starts off with a bang, Mariscal takes Zalal down. Zalal then gets up and takes Mariscal down. They both get up and clinch-work ensues. Mariscal’s strategy seems to be to put pressure on Zalal early. Mariscal finishes the round on top
Round 2
Mariscal takes down Zalal early. Zalal slaps an armbar on, Mariscal twists out of it. Mariscal then survives 2 guillotines. Mariscal takes Zalal down and finishes the round on top.read more
I’m not thrilled about this UFC 248. You know what? It kinda seems like a fight night card. This one to me kinda feels like a UFC XXX money grab, but that’s what they do now. Bellator needs a ranking system so people can keep up with what’s in the mix, and the LFA needs a bigger platform, and it needs to differentiate itself from all of the other smaller promotions. -Those are the two biggest US competitors, with the UFC IMO.
Anyway….
Israel Adesanya
vs
Yoel Romero
OK, so Yoel Romero is NOT a worthy challenger. Of course he’s good, he’s tough, He’s a physical specimen, but he lost his last two fights. Losing gets you a title shot? Jeeze-louise, I mean, at least feed him a lower ranked guy and let him get a win before challenging for the title. I think this fight came around because of Joe Rogan. Rogan has certain UFC perks, and one of them is calling for fights that he wants to see, on his big platform. I think this is what happened here. OK, since I have no power, no say, and I have to accept that this fight is going to happen, here’s how it’s going to go: Adesanya will beat the hell out of Yoel Romero. From Round 2 – onwards, Adesanya will out-strike Romero and batter him and he will make it look easy. Now Romero is super tough, so he might not get finished, but, he will get his ass worked. In the end it will be a comprehensive victory for Adesanya. Why is this going to happen? Mobility, Adesanya has it and Romero does not. Its just a bad matchup for Romero, again, NOT a worthy title challengerread more
My Picks are so bad. They are horrible this week. I know some people check this site just for the picks. But damn, I feel like I let some of you guys down. I was also requested to expound on some of my reasoning for the outcomes of the fights. I’ll do what I can
Jon Jones def. Dominick Reyes
Controversy. I’ll start by saying this; I was very impressed with Reyes’ cardio. He sort of has a point about that whole “athlete” schtick that he’s pushing. He had enough in the tank at the end to fend off the take down and look decent. I thought he won that fight. I thought Reyes won 1 & 2 and Jones won 4 & 5. Round 3 was tight, and I personally think that Reyes edged it. The fight could’ve also been a draw with a rare 10-10 round for round 3. I really really need to watch the Thiago Santos fight again. Anyway, Jones had to answer the question if he’s still evolving. As of right now, I say “No”. I dont think he’s evolved since the Thiago Santos fight. I didn’t see any new tools in the toolbox, I didn’t see any sublime skill that he’s known for. I also didn’t like his interviews leading up to the fight – They just didn’t seem honest. What do I think Jon Jones should do? He should Go to Thailand and work on a clinch game – seriously. He needs to just keep evolving. Reyes deserves a rematch.read more
The UFC is doing the right thing by skipping a week and allowing people to talk about the the UFC 247 card coming up. Its in Houston, and its pretty big. Any card with Jon Jones is pretty big.
Jon Jones
vs
Dominick Reyes
I think this is a big fight for Jones. He’s coming off the Thiago Santos Split decision – I think he lost that fight – And he’s gonna want to prove that he’s still the top dog. Reyes is undefeated, and is a worthy contender. Jones’ game is always evolving, I want to see if it’s still evolving.read more
So XKO hit us with “XKO: Summer bash”. Also known as XKO 46. and I really like the XKO promotion, maybe because its my local promotion, maybe because I like the little themes that they come up with, and maybe because I like the format. – They sprinkle Muay Thai events in the fightcard to off-set some of the more grapple-heavy bouts.
Anyway, So the show wasn’t around the Arlington area this time. This time it was at “Gas Monkey Live” in Dallas and I am not a fan of this place holding MMA events. It was weird, with a huge bar dividing the cheap seats and you have to order your food from the kitchen, at the bar. The cage seemed really far away, and Its like, you pay money to be in an area that they just try to sell you stuffread more
