Contender Series Grades Week 5 and 6

ALL CONTENDER SERIES 2019 GRADES

There is some real talent in Contender series this year. Every now and again they give fighters a layup, and every now and again they set two super tough fighters against each other. Last season they set Maycee Barber up against Jamie Colleen. Jamie Colleen is a straight killer, and it just wasn’t her night, that night. This season I saw Armando Villarreal vs Ode Osbourne, both those dudes can scrap. So sometimes the match ups can be a little unfair.

Coming up, I’m looking forward to see Tony Gravely vs Ray Rodriguez. I also want to see how Harvey Park does. Harvey Park’s fights are totally silly; he eats punches and leaves himself wide open, but here’s the kicker, he has great fight IQ and he seems to possess the Justin Gaethje gene It’ll be interesting in Week 7 and 8

Anyway, here we go again. Here are grades of some of the talent on the show. These grades are only based on their Contender Series performance, and not their performance before in other organizations

Summary

  • Quarantillo just got Kirk to gas out and got the finish
  • Hill just downloaded Poppeck and kept hurting him to the body
  • Okanovich and Lohsen are relatively low level
  • McKinney couldn’t strike with Woodson
  • Banger with Kuramagomedov and Williams. Technical striking
  • Martinek was just not urgent enough when he was on the ground
  • Rodriguez fought a good technical fight against an awkward dude that was just looking not to get finished
  • Cortez is slow but Agapova cannot grapple
  • Nguyen was robotic and fighting like Robocop. Cruz let him have it. Cruz has tremendous physical tools
  • Cherant needs to start boxing more. He just looked scared. Camur got a little lucky
