Contender Series 2020 Weeks 3 and 4

I posted on my Twitter that the Contender Series bridges the gap between UFC fans and MMA fans, and I stand by that statement. It allows the specific, brand driven UFC fans to open up to other organizations.

Great Professional performances on week 3 and 4. Guys that got contracts were: Louis Cosce, Cheyanne Buys, Orion Cosce, Josh Parisian, Jamie Pickett, Rafael Alves, Jeffrey Molina and Collin Huckbody

Here are grades of the talent on the show. These grades are only based on their Contender Series performance, and not their performance before, in other organizations.

Summary

  • Kevin Syler is not ready for the LFA much less the UFC. Cross‘ cardio looked bad
  • Parisian did what a big man should do, Johnson was small
  • All Dixon can do is Lay and Pray, and when it didn’t work against Cosce, he was out of ideas
  • If Buys can work with Geoff Neal and tighten up her hands just a little more, she’ll be making wrestlers out of all these girls. Rose was game though
  • Louis Cosce came in aggressive and took out a pretty durable Victor Reyna.
  • Huckbody ate some shots on the feet, but was able to get Bowen down and get the finish
  • Romero has big holes, and Mike Breeden is lacking in confidence
  • Molina and Silva had a banger, I personally believe Silva wanted the finish too early, and wasn’t playing the long game
  • Flores lacked confidence in his stand up game and put him self in an Alves guillotine predicament that he could’ve avoided
  • Pati was not urgent enough for the referee, and Pickett was able to get the stoppage
