What happened at UFC 250?

So, the UFC train is still chugging a long, and it seems like we MUST put out a pay-per-view product to the masses, even though one is not warranted right now. The things that multi-billion corporations do for the almighty dollar… At this time. I would just like to see the UFC put out “free” ESPN content and use only young fighters. The young fighters need the money, people dont want to pay for a lack-luster pay-per-view (UFC 250) right now, and the big fights could wait till most of the pandemic is over and people are back to work. What do I know… on to the fights read more

So, UFC 249/ Some things happened that kinda took away from what we really wanted to see. Gaethje beat Ferguson, yes, it happened. But like I said in my previous post, I still think the Khabib v. Tony fight will happen.

Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje

I got this wrong. Gaethje changed his game. He has head movement and he has a good sprawl. He’s not just standing in front of guys anymore. Ferguson just got hit with too many big shots for too long, the pace needed to change, the method needed to change, and he didn’t do it read more

OK, so its a rough time for a lot of people. There is a lot of uncertainty, a lot of people have lost jobs, there is a lot of loneliness and just a lot of drab feelings in general, and MMA is here to bring back a little more normalcy.

I put the date as May 16th fights would resume, but I didn’t rule out a Florida card happening before, and I was right. If you guys dont follow me on Twitter, please follow me at @unBROKENMMA

Now for the fights. These are really tough prediction, because everyone has just been out of it, guys could have gotten better, guys could have gotten worse. read more

OK. It was eh….

One particularly memorable fight on the card. Its a shame that the Judges got the winner of this fight wrong.

Israel Adesanya vs Yoel Romero

I said that Romero was not a worthy title contender. I was right. Romero threw everything away in this fight, because nothing was earned. Do you think if Romero was on a 5 fight win streak and was grinding out victories, he’d do this? Not a chance. Romero was fighting like a title wasn’t on the line. Garbage.

Zhang Weili vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk

I got this wrong, but I also think the wrong lady won. I had Joanna winning this fight. I was scoring each round. I tell you what though. If this was a Muay Thai fight with Thai rules, I think Zhang wins, but I think Jedrzejczyk should have got the victory here. One thing is certain, when people reference UFC 248, this will be the fight that they look back on. Rematch… read more

UFC 248 Picks

UFC 248 Picks

So here is what actually happened.

I’m not thrilled about this UFC 248. You know what? It kinda seems like a fight night card. This one to me kinda feels like a UFC XXX money grab, but that’s what they do now. Bellator needs a ranking system so people can keep up with what’s in the mix, and the LFA needs a bigger platform, and it needs to differentiate itself from all of the other smaller promotions. -Those are the two biggest US competitors, with the UFC IMO.

Anyway….

Israel AdesanyavsYoel Romero

OK, so Yoel Romero is NOT a worthy challenger. Of course he’s good, he’s tough, He’s a physical specimen, but he lost his last two fights. Losing gets you a title shot? Jeeze-louise, I mean, at least feed him a lower ranked guy and let him get a win before challenging for the title. I think this fight came around because of Joe Rogan. Rogan has certain UFC perks, and one of them is calling for fights that he wants to see, on his big platform. I think this is what happened here. OK, since I have no power, no say, and I have to accept that this fight is going to happen, here’s how it’s going to go: Adesanya will beat the hell out of Yoel Romero. From Round 2 – onwards, Adesanya will out-strike Romero and batter him and he will make it look easy. Now Romero is super tough, so he might not get finished, but, he will get his ass worked. In the end it will be a comprehensive victory for Adesanya. Why is this going to happen? Mobility, Adesanya has it and Romero does not. Its just a bad matchup for Romero, again, NOT a worthy title challenger read more

My Picks are so bad. They are horrible this week. I know some people check this site just for the picks. But damn, I feel like I let some of you guys down. I was also requested to expound on some of my reasoning for the outcomes of the fights. I’ll do what I can

Jon Jones def. Dominick Reyes

Controversy. I’ll start by saying this; I was very impressed with Reyes’ cardio. He sort of has a point about that whole “athlete” schtick that he’s pushing. He had enough in the tank at the end to fend off the take down and look decent. I thought he won that fight. I thought Reyes won 1 & 2 and Jones won 4 & 5. Round 3 was tight, and I personally think that Reyes edged it. The fight could’ve also been a draw with a rare 10-10 round for round 3. I really really need to watch the Thiago Santos fight again. Anyway, Jones had to answer the question if he’s still evolving. As of right now, I say “No”. I dont think he’s evolved since the Thiago Santos fight. I didn’t see any new tools in the toolbox, I didn’t see any sublime skill that he’s known for. I also didn’t like his interviews leading up to the fight – They just didn’t seem honest. What do I think Jon Jones should do? He should Go to Thailand and work on a clinch game – seriously. He needs to just keep evolving. Reyes deserves a rematch. read more

UFC 247 Picks

The UFC is doing the right thing by skipping a week and allowing people to talk about the the UFC 247 card coming up. Its in Houston, and its pretty big. Any card with Jon Jones is pretty big.

Jon JonesvsDominick Reyes

I think this is a big fight for Jones. He’s coming off the Thiago Santos Split decision – I think he lost that fight – And he’s gonna want to prove that he’s still the top dog. Reyes is undefeated, and is a worthy contender. Jones’ game is always evolving, I want to see if it’s still evolving. read more

These are my picks

There were so many twists and turns at UFC 246. This whole card made me feel like I dont know what I’m talking about when I pick these fights. it was all so bad. so very bad

Conor McGregor def. Donald Cerrone

This call made me feel like I know nothing. I totally over-estimated Donald Cerrone, he got embarrassed in this fight. Beatdown and finished

Holly Holm def. Raquel Pennington

I got this call right. Holm was able to get into the clinch and beat up Pennington. Pennington should just go ahead and retire IMO

Aleksei Oleinik def. Maurice Greene

Got this call right. It played out just like a said too. – Oleinik was able to strike to get on the inside and get the submission. This call was unbroken read more

UFC 246 Picks

So that pesky little Irishman rears his head. I dont really care. I dont care at all. Yeah, I watched him about five years ago, and I was invested then, but I’m not invested now. There are other fights at UFC 246 that I want to see, so he can just move on and sell whiskey or do whatever he does. Anyway, the stakes are ridiculous. So, if said Irishman were to win, he’d face Khabib –if he wins, at a lower weight class. It makes absolutely no sense. I think the UFC knows it makes no sense, but they’re willing to screw hardcore fans to appease the casual fans. Casual fans probably don’t even know what weight class McGregor fights at, so who cares?? This might as well just be a grudge match for that little verbal spat that they had at that press conference, a few years ago. read more

OK, UFC 245 ended, and it was big. It was a great fight-card. Fantastic prelims and just good action

Check my picks out

Kamaru Usman vs Colby Covington

This was a stand up war, and both these guys are warriors. I knew that Covington had great cardio and a good engine, but I didn’t know that he was such a warrior. He told his corner that his jaw was broken, and they let him down. They should’ve pulled the plug right then. The corner man also said that Usman was “breaking” LMAO. That dude said the champ was “breaking” 10 minutes in. He didn’t say that he had a broken hand or a broken foot, he was saying that Kamaru Usman’s will was breaking. He was basically saying that Usman didn’t want to fight anymore. Why do cornermen lie to their fighters? Is this just fight corner filler? Usman got the win and I picked this fight right read more
