LFA 71 round by round results

So I watched some LFA fights. They were in Atlanta, but I still have some UFC 239 on my brain, and I still think that Jones lost that fight. I think that the one loss he has on his record is real now, and I do think he’s still the best ever. Enough of that, They got it on at the Coca-Cola Roxy

Main event

Henerson Souza vs Jason Jackson – Welterweight

Round 1

Jackson starts off the with some lowkicks and just looks more vicious. Jackson stays glued to Souza for a a while.

Round 2

Jackson lands a big 1-2 and puts Souza down, however the Brazilian recovers and the two stand and slug it out on the feet

Round 3

Souza is more confident and the punches are a little offbeat and disjointed. Souza gets Jackson down and beats him up

Round 4

Souza comes on a little stronger and he just looks as if he knows that he took the best shots from Jackson, and he can withstand them

Round 5

Souza is able to tough it out and withstand some shots, and look more aggressive.🚩 Jackson wins by Split decision.

Jackson has big holes in his stand up game, and his wrestling is above average, but not world class. He needs to embrace the striking game more, and become more accurate. His great footwork probably earned him the split decision win. Souza has a very high ceiling, if I were him, and I was very serious about MMA, and get into Chute Boxe. He seems like a prime candidate for that gym.

Hugh Pulley vs Demarques Jackson – Welterweight

Round 1

Jackson takes the back, and Pulley is able to twist out of it. They stand and slug and Pulley gives great feints but cant pull the trigger

Round 2

Pulley gets a takedown early and beats him up and the ref stands them up. Pulley gets another takedown.

Round 3

Jackson is looking crisper on the feet and Pulley gets the takedown, Jackson is able to take the back at the end and Pulley survives. 🚩 Pulley wins by Split decision.

Pulley is very raw and very good. He has a good tool box to work with, but he’s not vicious in his stand up enough. He needs real technical MMA striking. His ground and pound looked fantastic, but he was never able to get back to that place. He can be a very exciting prospect for a coach. Jackson needs to go hard into technical jiu jitsu, he got taken down way too easily, and looked a little clueless on the floor

Devante Sewell vs Ary Farias – Bantamweight

Round 1

Farias is super jacked; just big gorilla arms on the Bantamweight. Sewell is patient, but leaves me wanting more in the striking department. Farias is able to get Sewell down and choke him unconscious very quickly. 🚩 Farias wins by technical submission.

Sewell looked a little technically inept on the ground and just didnt get started. Farias looked average if I’m being honest, but there is something to be said about the way that he saw the finish and went for it.

Tanner Saraceno vs Gregory Rodrigues – Middleweight

Round 1

Both guys look a little robotic and Rodrigues gets the takedown, takes the back. Saraceno also survives an Americana attempt.

Round 2

Rodrigues goes for some sub attempts and both guys wrestle around but look toothless on the floor

Round 3

Saraceno puts himself in dangerous situations. Rodrigues has the back for most of the round, there is a sloppy back and fourth with Rodrigues having the better of the positions. 🚩 Rodrigues wins by unanimous decision

Saraceno is just super sloppy, and just needs to tighten up his game. Rodrigues needs to be more clinical with his ground game.

Tyler Ray vs Pedro Paulino – Welterweight

Round 1

Paulino looks light on his feet and bounces like Machida. Ray looks stiff and powerful. Ray is very apprehensive as Paulino bounces around with his hands down.

Round 2

Ray is moving well but is very apprehensive. Paulino loses one point for grabbing the cage.

Round 3

Ray clinches and has the better of the positions. 🚩 Ray wins by unanimous decision.

Both guys are extremely green. Paulino plays a very dangerous game though

Robert Hale vs Zach Fears – 160

Round 1

Fears looks looser, Hale looks more conventional. Hale begins to try to get on the inside and hits Fears with small shots.

Round 2

Hale is cautious, using straight punches. Fears gets a takedown but not for along, and Fears is a lot wilder with his striking. I feel like Hale is fighting with the hand-brake on in this fight.

Round 3

Just a boxing match, with Hale doing more work. Fears looks willing to accept his losing position. The punches are softer as the fight goes longer. Hale wins by Unanimous decision.

Hale was fighting not to lose. His variety of strikes is lacking. He lacks aggressiveness, and I know nothing about his ground game. Fears needs to work on a lot. Huge holes in his game.

Yemi Oduwole vs Chris Brown – 160

Round 1

Both are flatfooted and a little sloppy. Brown lands a kick and beats up Oduwole a little bit. Brown hits Oduwole with a kick and jumps over him with a flying knee.

Round 2

Oduwole is eating kicks and has poor footwork. Brown hits Oduwole with a kick in transition and finishes him with punches. 🚩 Brown wins by TKO

I think Brown is fighting to hurt his opponent. I don’t know what Oduwole’s game plan was, he looked immobile and toothless. Both guys need work
