The LFA rolled into Belton, TX, just south of Temple to put on LFA 63. It was a fun card with a lot of wars. I was trying to watch The CES 55 event on Fight Pass, but my internet was going through some shit. I really wanted to see Jeremiah Wells. I saw on Twitter that he lost that fight due to a very, very very, very close decision. He’s a fantastic fighter. I didnt think he’d lose at all. Anyway – Back to Belton
Main Event
Justin Patterson vs Derrick Krantz – Welterweight
Round 1
Krantz keeps pulling Patterson into his power. Krantz has great footwork, and he seems to keep getting out of pressure traps that Patterson sets for him. Krantz blitzes Patterson and knocks him down. Krantz KOs Patterson as he tries to get up. An uppercut to knock him out, a straight left to baptize him. 🚩 Krantz wins by KO
I think Patterson is great. He has fantastic boxing, but he was sloppy with a guy that has a lot of power. Krantz is very highly rated. He has power in both hands and he’s devastating in short spurts.
Jake Heffernan vs Gabriel Silva – Featherweight
Round 1
Hefferman is more active. Silva has poor head movement. Hefferman gets rocked with a straight right and then KOed. 🚩 Silva wins by TKO
Both these guys looked sloppy. Hefferman was just sloppier.
Hailey Cowan vs Sarah Click – Flyweight
Round 1
Click is fighting with her chin out for some reason. Cowan initiates the clinch and lands some knees. Cowan gets Click down to win the round.
Round 2
Cowan looks much bigger than her intimidated opponent. She takes Click down, elbows her to open her up then finishes her with a RNC. 🚩 Cowan wins by submission
Cowan is thick and muscular and has a great frame, but she is slow. She relies on strength for her takedowns, and she’s not very mobile in the standup. Click looked scared and uninspired.
Cameron Graves vs Raphael Barbosa – Featherweight
Round 1
Barbosa moves well and has good physical tools. He has an in-and-out karate style. Graves is flat-footed and robotic but is winning most of the exchanges. Graves goes for a take down and gets it. Graves beats up Barboza on the ground for a little bit and they both get back to their feet.
Round 2
Barbosa sinks a D’arce in early. Graves fights out of it and gets to his feet. Graves looks a little slower and doesnt have very good head movement.
Round 3
Graves is winning the striking battle, but Barbosa continues to bounce around well. 🚩 Barbosa wins by Unanimous decision.
Graves was robbed. He may not have been as flashy as Barbosa, but he was effective. If he had a little power in his hands, Barbosa would be out. Barbosa has slow hands and is very reckless, he has good movement, but his striking is not very dynamic.
Armando Villarreal vs Devin Miller – Bantamweight
Round 1
Villarreal has good footwork and is using it to get on the inside and wrestle. Villarreal also seems to have great Judo. His hip pressure and control is great. He rakes Miller down and beats him up for a little bit, but miller uses a heelhook to escape, and Miller takes Villarreal’s back.
Round 2
Villarreal gets on the inside and does work. Miller is able to jump on his back. The two go to the floor and Villarreal punches Miller in the head as Miller has a body triangle locked up. I never thought for a second that Miller was going to finish Villarreal, even though he had his back.
Round 3
Villarreal charges, gets on the inside an knocks Miller out. 🚩 Villarreal wins by KO
Villarreal has so much endurance. He is an absolute animal. Endurance, volume, work-rate, stamina. He doesn’t have great physical tools and he puts himself in very tricky situations at times, but he’s super exciting. He’s a very technical wrestler and has good body control. I’ll definitely be looking to see him more.
Jhonoven Pati vs Kailan Hill – Middleweight
Round 1
Hill looks big and thick. He looks like what a prototype power-middleweight would look like. He throws some very accurate kicks. Hill comes out very wild and throws a diving spinning back fist at Pati. Pati hits Hill with a straight right and clinches.
Round 2
Hill is trying to end the fight with some explosive stuff. Pati is staying just out of range. Hill takes him down and beats him up for a little bit. Pati comes back towards the end of the round and fires some shots.
Round 3
Pati can eat a shot. Hill is fighting very emotionally. Pati is pressuring his opponent and Hill is beating him and defending himself. This is a tough fight. 🚩 Hill wins by Unanimous decision.
Kailan Hill is fantastic. He’s super explosive, accurate and he has phenomenal physical tools. Thing is-He’s way too emotional. He cant let other fighters get in his head. He is a fighter that every promotion would want – Because, he comes to take your head off. He’s been very active as of recent and I will be seeing more of this guy. Pati has good footwork and a great chin. I’d like to see him add a better Jits game to his repertoire – with the style that he has.
