Pretty good striking talent on display on this first week of The Contender Series. And good all around talent on the second week. No crowds at the Apex? We dont need no stinking crowds. We’ve been doing it this way since the inception of the show. Medic and Jacoby shined with their striking, and Adrian Yanez gave us one of the Contender Series KOs that we all love
Anyway, here we go again. Here are grades of the talent on the show. These grades are only based on their Contender Series performance, and not their performance before, in other organizations.
Guys that got Contracts on week one and two were: Dustin Jacoby, Uros Medic, Jordan Leavitt, Dustin Stoltzfus, Adrian Yanez, Cory McKenna, TJ Laramie, and Impa Kasanganay. All five winners on week 2 got a contract.
Summary
- Jordan Leavitt knew Luis Flores couldn’t play his Jiu Jitsu game
- Luis Rodriguez is more talented, but was more of a more self-defensive style against Jerome Rivera
- Medic looked good against Gonzalez. The verdict is still out about his ground game.
- Dustin Jacoby looked good against Ty Flores. The verdict is still out about his ground game
- Dustin Stoltzfus got a little lucky, but, he made his own luck. He was losing to Pyfer before he slammed and injured his opponent.
- Adrian Yanez showed fast hands, but he still ate a couple of punches, before taking out Huang in impressive fashionÂ
- I believe Cory McKenna earned her contract by taking out the LFA Champ, Demopoulos, who needs to work on her striking to move to the next level.
- TJ Laramie looked better than Swain everywhere before the doctor stoppage
- Impa Kasanganay showed total MMA in his win over Adams, and Adams looked tough, especially in the 1st round
