So, UFC 249/ Some things happened that kinda took away from what we really wanted to see. Gaethje beat Ferguson, yes, it happened. But like I said in my previous post, I still think the Khabib v. Tony fight will happen.
Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje
I got this wrong. Gaethje changed his game. He has head movement and he has a good sprawl. He’s not just standing in front of guys anymore. Ferguson just got hit with too many big shots for too long, the pace needed to change, the method needed to change, and he didn’t do it
Henry Cejudo vs Dominick Cruz
I think the stoppage was correct, I think Cejudo put on a stellar performance, and maybe he was right, maybe Cruz was just a warm up
Francis N’Gannou vs Jairzinho Rozenstruik
I got this call so wrong. The power is different. NGannou has a different type of power. Stipe’s fight just ages so well
Calvin Kattar vs Jeremy Stephens
Kattar got through the gatekeeper. He’s a mover and a shaker at 145 now. I see a lot of big fights in his future
Greg Hardy vs Yorgan De Castro
De Castro gassed himself out in the 1st round, and Hardy coasted after that. Hardy has atrocious footwork, and he looks large and stagnant. He needs to lose some weight, so that he can close the distance quicker
Anthony Pettis vs Donald Cerrone
I thought Cerrone won this, it was close, but I thought Cerrone edged it
Alexey Oleinik vs Fabricio Werdum
Oleinik is exciting. He is a promoter’s dream, he comes forward like a tank and throws some big bombs. He is a whiz on the ground, and he matched Werdum where ever they went.
Carla Esparza vs Michelle Waterson
I thought Waterson may have just edged this, but it was close. I missed this pick
Vicente Luque vs Niko Price.
War. These two put on a show. Vicente Luque is one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC right now. Watch his last 8 fights, and tell me this man doesn’t deliver. Price made a good account of himself here. Both guys stock rose in this one.
Bryce Mitchell vs Charles Rosa
Mitchell cooked him to the bone, the only thing missing here was a finish.
Ryan Spann vs Sam Alvey
Ryan Spann needs to be more patient and more switched on. He was chasing this fight for no reason. He got the win though, but its a growing pain for the big man.
7/11 not too bad for a card coming off a big break
The Bryce Mitchell call was unbroken
