OK, so its a rough time for a lot of people. There is a lot of uncertainty, a lot of people have lost jobs, there is a lot of loneliness and just a lot of drab feelings in general, and MMA is here to bring back a little more normalcy.
I put the date as May 16th fights would resume, but I didn’t rule out a Florida card happening before, and I was right. If you guys dont follow me on Twitter, please follow me at @unBROKENMMA
Now for the fights. These are really tough prediction, because everyone has just been out of it, guys could have gotten better, guys could have gotten worse.
Tony Ferguson | vs | Justin Gaethje |
OK, So we didn’t get the fight that we all wanted to see. It just makes for another story and it makes for a bigger fight. But Tony vs Khabib WILL happen, no matter the outcome of this fight. On to the fight. I think Tony will win by TKO. why? because Tony trains like a Thai-fighter, he trains and plays at the same time, so he’s always training, its actually ingenious. I think he’ll be fresher and I think he’ll be more clinical. Gaethje’s style is NOT a good foil for Ferguson’s style
Henry Cejudo | vs | Dominick Cruz |
Dominick Cruz doesn’t deserve this shot. Jose Aldo didn’t deserve the shot. Petr Yan, Aljamain Sterling, or Cory Sandhagen are the ones that should be in the mix. Anyway, this fight is tough to predict, because both guys have been off for such. a. long. time. I think Cejudo will take it. I think its will go five rounds and I think Cruz will do a lot of running. BTW this is an awesome opportunity for Cruz, and he didn’t even really earn it
Francis N’Gannou | vs | Jairzinho Rozenstruik |
N’Gannou has been on the shelf for a while and has been wanting a fight. Bigi Boy stepped up to give him a fight. N’Gannou has power, Bigi Boy has education. I think Rozenstruik will avoid the big shot, and beat up Ngannou to get the decision
Jeremy Stephens | vs | Calvin Kattar |
Jeremy Stephens IS the gate keeper to go to the next level. He’s been the gatekeeper for a while now, and for good reason. Kattar needs to go to the next level. This is a tough, tough, fight to pick, especially with the lay off, but I think Kattar gets it done
Greg Hardy | vs | Yorgan De Castro |
This IS a crossroads fight for Greg Hardy, He’s not fighting new comers anymore, he lost a hard fought fight with Volkov, and if he is going to be a mover and a shaker in the UFC he’s going to have to beat Yorgan De Castro. Hardy has changed up his style a lot, I think he needs to go back to being a hard-nosed come forward KO artist for this fight. De Castro has a lot of holes in his game, and I think Hardy is more far along than he is. Hardy wins by TKO
Donald Cerrone | vs | Anthony Pettis |
Both guys have fallen, both guys are stepping stones, and both guys will be looking to step on each other to get to a better place. A draw or a No Contest would be the last thing either of these guys wants. Tough fight to pick. I think Cerrone has a little more heart than Pettis
Fabricio Werdum | vs | Alexey Oleinik |
I love this fight. Two 42 year olds, both strangulation artists, square off to fight. Oleinik has had more fights, but I think that Werdum is the more battle-worn fighter. Oleinik’s style is super fun, he comes forward like a tank, eats punches and then tries to submit his opponent, I think that he will get it done
Carla Esparza | vs | Michelle Waterson |
Carla Esparza has a lot of heart. Waterson, is OK, but she could never really make it into the championship conversation. Esparza has good wrestling, but doesn’t have very good hands. I dont know what this fight does for either lady, other than the paycheck TBH. I think Waterson will be able to use her hands better and avoid the ground
Ronaldo Souza | vs | Uriah Hall |
I think Hall will be able to keep the fight standing, and If he keeps the fight standing, I think that he’ll score more on the feet. I see Hall getting the decision here
Vicente Luque | vs | Niko Price |
Vicente Luque had THE fight of the year last year with Bryan Barberena, and no one can tell me anything different. Niko Price is wild and unpredictable. Luque has been wanting to go the tough guy route recently, in his last fights, and not fighting that smart. I think he’ll be more level headed here and pick up the win
Charles Rosa | vs | Bryce Mitchell |
Mitchell has got speed and guile and he is very, very educated on the ground, dont let his hill-billy shtick fool you. Rosa? I’m not too sure, he’s been inconsistent. I think Mitchell will pick up the sub here
Ryan Spann | vs | Sam Alvey |
I don’t really know what will happen here. Spann needs to stay away from the left hand of doom, and Alvey will be playing his keep away plodding game. Spann just needs to be switched on for this fight and I think he’ll get the victory.
I was thinking if I should make an unBroken pick. But, I cant, not with this card. Just having MMA back is unBroken
