So, I was thinking about heading to The Bomb Factory to watch some of these fights, but I’m glad I did not. I wasn’t stirred. The Judges were bad, but the Mixed Martial Arts was good.
Texas, Oh Texas, why are you so beautiful, yet so damn frustrating. I really think the Judges gave the fights to the favorites on the card. I dont think that they actually know what they’re looking at. Its complete garbage
Main Event
Damon Jackson vs Mauro Chaulet – Featherweight
Round 1
Jackson rocks Chaulet of the feet. Takes the back and finishes by RNC. 🚩Jackson wins by submission.
Jackson moved through this guy so easily it was unreal. Chaulet is not on his level striking-wise or ground-wise.
Justin Patterson vs Matt Dixon – Welterweight
Round 1
Patterson is winning on the feet. Dixon is running and holding on
Round 2
Dixon is laying and praying and Walling and stalling and Patterson is winning on the feet
Round 3
Dixon lays and prays all round. 🚩 Dixon wins by unanimous decision.
Dixon did a good job of fooling the judges here. Patterson won the first 2 rounds and Dixon laid and prayed for the 3rd to get the win. The judges just picked Dixon because he was the favorite. They also gave Dixon all 3 rounds 30-27 madness
Hailey Cowan vs Brittney Cloudy – Bantamweight
Round 1
Cloudy is winning in the stand up. Cowan has some success in the clinch
Round 2
Cloudy wins on the feet
Round 3
Dominant round by Cloudy where she gets a big takedown and takes Cowan’s back. 🚩 Cowan wins by split decision.
This is one of the BIGGEST robberies I’ve seen in LFA in a looooooong time. It’s so bad. Cloudy definitively won rounds 2 and 3. And I personally thought that she won round 1. Those are all three rounds on my scorecard. Its complete garbage. Cowan is a good fighter, and I’m sure this result just embarrasses her even more.
Austen Lane vs Vernon Lewis – Heavyweight
Round 1
Lewis gets the takedown goes to side control and rains down punches from side control to get the finish. 🚩 Lewis wins by TKO
Vernon Lewis is evolving. He has a little Jiu Jitsu to his game. I like it
Victor Altamirano vs Chris Ocon – Flyweight
Round 1
A little tit-for-tat with Altamirano throwing more variety
Round 2
Altamirano rocks Ocon. Ocon shoots and gets on top. Ocon then gets butchered from the botton by Altamirano.
Round 3
Altamirano gets grounded for a little bit and hunts for submissions. 🚩 Altamirano wins by Split decision
Altamirano is very good in the striking department. His strikes are very intelligent and very diverse. He can throw very hard stuff, and I actually think he’s pretty damn accurate. He basically won this fight with all the work that he did on his feet. Altramirano’s Jiu Jitsu needs work. He needs to work sweeps and stand-ups into his game. I am 100% sure that a lot of guys will want to take him down, because they don’t want to deal with his stand up. And he could lose a lot of rounds, on bottom, fighting to get a Kimura. Ocon is a good fighter, he just needs to evolve more. He needs more variety to his game. This fight could’ve went either way IMO
Jay Viola vs Fernie Garcia – Bantamweight
Round 1
Garcia taking his time. Garcia starts battering Viola. Viola’s face becomes a mask of blood
Round 2
Garcia beats up Viola and gets a takedown,
Round 3
Matador fighting from Garcia. Ducking under and countering for the whole fight. 🚩 Garcia wins by unanimous decision
Garcia played Matador for most of this fight, but he was unable to kill the bull. He couldn’t land the shots he needed to put Viola away. He rarely threw anything to the body, and he rarely threw any kicks. He was not pro-active in the fight – What I mean is, if you’re backing off from you’re opponent, throw a feint, to see what reaction you get. Finish with a leg kick. There are a lot of improvements that Garcia can make. I’d tell Garcia to get with Altamirano and level up his striking a little, and I’d actually tell Altamirano to go to Fortis and get some Jiu Jitsu and wrestling into his game.
Damon Jackson was unbroken
