LFA 95 results

It seems like Kansas loves MMA and MMA loves Kanas. The LFA was Parked in Park City Kansas for LFA 95. It was a fun card. LFA is known for its good match making, and just for being an organization that spots talent. The big thing on this fight card was was the Kickboxing powerhouse Alex Pereira. There were a few fights on this card that were cancelled, but we got to keep some gems

Main Event

Thomas Powell vs Alex Pereira – Middleweight

Round 1

Pereira nails Powell with a body kick and beats him up on the ground for a while. Powell clinches. They separate Powell throws a right highkick and a left hook behind it, the left hook puts Powell in dreamland. It was actually very scary, because Powell was down for a very long time. 🚩Pereira wins by KO

Pereira’s striking for MMA looked good. I like his variety, its clear that he has a lot of tools in the toolbox. Pereira is less of a runner than Israel Adesanya, so people might take him down. I hope to see more of Pereira in MMA.

Myron Dennis vs Dylan Potter – Light Heavyweight, Potter weighed in at 212

Round 1

Potter hits Dennis with a big kick and they clinch. Dennis hammers some kicks home and gets the takedown

Round 2

Potter throwing good kicks. Both are a little sloppy and Potter is barely winning in the striking department. Potter falls down and Dennis jumps on top to finish the round.

Round 3

Potter throws some kicks and shoots for a single. Dennis sprawls, and they continue to throw single shots on the feet. Potter is just a little better on the feet. 🚩Dennis wins by split decision

Potter has good kicks and an interesting striking game, his grappling game is severely lacking though. Dennis has a very basic striking game. I really didn’t see anything too special about Dennis

Lloyd McKinney vs Victor Altamirano – Flyweight

Round 1

They bang, Altamirano bloodies McKinney’s nose and McKinney wrestles for the remainder of the round.

Round 2

McKinney decides to wrestle, and there is a stoppage when Altamirano throws an illegal upkick, the ref has a conversation with the offending fighter, and puts them back in position. Altamirano throws up a triangle and locks it in, and gets the tap.🚩 Altamirano wins by submission

Altamirano’s striking is good, but he realizes that people just want to wrestle him now, so he’s rounding his game out some more. He trains in the Fort Worth area, and I know there is great BJJ work at Fitness Fight Factory, and great wrestling work at Fortis. I’ll be following El Magnifico to see where he goes from here. McKinney?, McKinney isn’t very diverse.

Guilherme Santos vs Bruno Souza – Featherweight

Round 1

Santos puts the storm on Souza and gets him down and does work. Souza has an issue with his glove and there is a break in the action, and they rectify the problem with his glove. Santos is positioned on top, and he gasses out on top as the round comes to a close.

Round 2

Souza is touching up Santos and Santos can barely more.🚩 Souza wins by TKO

Souza totally gassed out after one round. Santos has a Karate style, and TBH I dont see anything special about his style. He is very hittable, he runs a lot and makes a lot of noise

Jordan Heiderman vs Mauricio Blanco – Heavyweight

Round 1

Single strikes by each guy. Not a lot of output. Heiderman stays on the outside. Heiderman gets a takedown in this round.

Round 2

Kicks from Heiderman. Blanco hurts Heiderman with an overhand right, but Blanco is too gassed to throw anything else significant. Heiderman gets a takedown and wraps up the RNC.🚩 Heiderman wins by submission.

Heiderman was on the backfoot for a big portion of this fight. Early days

The Alex Pereira KO was unbroken at LFA 95
