LFA 103 Results

LFA 103 took place in Shawnee, OK. The Promotion still has a limited crowd there. I actually expect the LFA to make the move down to Texas fairly soon. Texas is opened up, and the counties are the ones that blocking a lot of crowd gartherin’s. As the vaccination numbers go up, I expect the state to open up more. In the main even of LFA 103 Spike Carlyle beat Batsumberel Dagvadorj by submission, in an exciting contest.

Main Event

Spike Carlyle vs Batsumberel Dagvadorj – Lightweight

Round 1

Big Right Hook by Spike Carlyle hits Dagvadorj flush and the Mongolian just eats it. Dagvadorj continues to eat shots and come forward, and the Mongolian really uses his chin as a defensive weapon to get on the inside. Dagvadorj closes the distance and begins to land some shots of his own. Carlyle gets the takedown works to the back and locks in the RNC.🚩 Carlyle wins by submission

Dagvadorj is tough, but with his style, I dont think he should be just chasing the knockout, he needs to round his MMA game out a little more and do some wrestling. He needs better footwork and he needs better feints. This fight didn’t really showcase anything new from Spike Carlyle. He was smart to lock up the choke against a tough striker, but we really didn’t see Carlyle’s gas tank get tested

Cynthia Arceo vs Vanessa Demopoulos – Strawweight – Arceo missed weight

Round 1

Demopoulos lands a solid left hook and swarms Arceo with punches. 🚩Demopoulos wins by TKO

Demopoulos was just throwing those hands, and that’s what she does, I’m glad that the LFA listened to my blog post and gave Demopoulos a girl that was not a killer. Because I think that Demopoulos has been fighting killers her entire career, right now Demopoulos is 6-3, but its a very respectable 6-3 against girls that are world class. I expect Demopoulos to get a UFC call, or another contender series call.

Jake Sebastian vs Abdul-Kareem Al-Selwady – Lightweight

Round 1

Al-Selwady bounces around well, but looks a little tentative. He lands a few strikes and gets a nice takedown. He does tremendous work on the ground, and puts a beat down on Sebastian.🚩 Al-Selwady wins by TKO

Al-Selwady looked good, He looked a little tentative when he was striking, but his ground game looked confident. Al-Selwady is a candidate for a contender Series call. Sebastian actually didnt look bad before he got taken down.

Fernie Garcia vs Isaiah Batin-Gonzalez – Bantamweight

Round 1

Gonzalez is using his reach and is doing damage. Garcia is relatively stagnant at times, but gets some good takedowns and does some damage late

Round 2

Garcia has fast hands and does damage, but his lazy footwork lets him eat a lot of shots in this round

Round 3

Garcia eats some shots and still has poor movement, but Garcia gets a big takedown and does good damage on the floor. 🚩Garcia wins by unanimous decision

This fight was close. Garcia’s hands are quick, but he eats a lot of shots standing in one place, the wrestling kinda saved his bacon in this fight. Gonzalez looks good, but needs more seasoning.

Luciano Ramos vs Curtis Latchman – Bantamweight

Round 1

Ramos has a high guard and bad footwork. Very even

Round 2

Same as the first with Ramos getting a big takedown

Round 3

Ramos awkwardly takes Latchman’s back. Ramos takes Latchman down and pounds on him until the bell. 🚩Ramos wins by unanimous decision.

I wasn’t impressed with either fighter. Latchman was afraid of getting into the pocket, and Ramos had terrible footwork and was robotic. Early days for both these guys

Josh Quinlan vs Dallas Jennings – Welterweight

Round 1

Quinlan throws some heavy kicks and touches Jennings with some 1-2s. Jennings starts throwing some body kicks

Round 2

Jennings starts applying pressure and Quinlan rocks him with some 1-2s and has a flurry late in the round

Round 3

Quinlan rocks Jennings and drops him with low-kicks, Quinlan then beats him up with elbows on the floor and advances to the back and sinks in the RNC.🚩 Quinlan wins by submission

Jennings looks like a pad hitter, and Quinlan looks very robotic. Quinlan is strong and has good power, but he’s very robotic in the stand up. I’m interested to see more from Quinlan though.
